Looking to get my 75 year old Dad out ice fishing this week. Not looking for your hot spot just basis information or a recent report. (Fosters, Chester, Willow) I grew up in Rochester but never fished these “New” lakes. Thanks for your help!

I would think the wabasha marina or the dike road areas would be better for him ,less walking

Fosters would be the nearest to walk to I believe tho.

I was at Willow last week and fishing was fair. We fished several spots and ended up with 2 bass, 1 perch, 1 bullhead, 1 crappie and about 15 sunnies . All were CPR’d and swam away. That’s not a bad walk down to Willow, especially from the handicapped parking area. There are no steep drops to overcome and it’s probably only 100 yards out to start fishing.
The other spot would be Pontoon Slough just off the Dike Road. From the parking area it’s probably 50 yards to the first puddle and about 100 yards to the 2nd one past the narrows. I have no report on that area. Good luck…nice to see you taking your Dad out.

Thanks guys!! I live in Wabasha and haven’t done well since first ice around here. I am hoping to get him out for a few hours around rochester, that way it isn’t to far of a drive if/when we get cold etc. I don’t need to catch a lot just a few to keep our interest.

Pontoon has a fairly good bluegill bite going. You will some crappies mixed in and maybe some perch too.
    Thanks, Bill
