plenty of fishing there, but the size can be an issue.
There is a $5 daily fee to enter/use the park. Seasonal passes are available too….$25 if memory serves me right. No gas outboard use, electric only. Great launch ramp and parking.
Chesterwoods is managed for large sunfish and special regs are posted at the launch. With a little searching aperson can find some true brutes. Crappies are one of those fish that are either not found or are on a tear….it seems when a guy finds them he can do well and they’ll have some size.
The bass are everywhere with small fish being the usual fare, but there are some hogs there and they get caught with some regularity.
Catfish are common at CW and some of those are getting piggish now. These will be channel cats, there are no flatties.
CW is a quiet water for the most part and fun to fish. Weed growth may be an issue in some areas and our recent lack of rain may have allowed to water to green up a bit, but still, the fishing should be pretty decent. Plastic or spinnerbaits, maybe topwaters, for the bass. Minnows for the catfish and perhaps the crappies. Small jigs, plastics and waxies will surely get results for both the sunfish/bluegill family and crappies.
