I spent part of the morning fishing with my youngest son Nate. In the first hour and a half there were 7 of the 8 trout caught and then the bite died. These trout circle around the lake so its basicly a waiting game till they come through your area again. We used 4 pound line, colorfull colored jigs and added a minnow. The ice is only about one inch to two inches thick so please DON’T go on the ice as you will fall through. We drilled holes from the dock and fished from the dock. Its a nice safe way to get onto some early ice fishing and still be safe too. Please remember that no ice is safe ice and that the deeper water lakes like Foster Arends take alot longer to freeze up and make ice. Dock fishing–a great way to go ice fishing before the lake makes enough ice to be on. Its like having your cake and eat it too you might say.
    Thanks, Bill

The ice where Nate and I fished Wednesday night looked to be a good foot deep. We caught bluegills but no trout showed up to say hi to us which seemed strange cause there are a bunch in there. Hows everyone doing on Fosters?
    Thanks, Bill
