I spent Wednesday afternoon out on Lake Zumbro fishing for gills and crappies. The crappies were hard to come by but the gills provided alot of action. They were suspended over deep water about 8-9 feet down. . Pictured is a walleye friend who has found fishing on the lake for gills and crappies to be alot of fun, very relaxing, and closer to home which helps the wallet when it comes to the gas bill. When the water temps drop alot more on the Mississippi River then you will find him back down there chasing the fish that he, I and many others love the most-walleyes. Mini-mites [thought you would never guess the lure, lol] tipped with a waxie provided some good fishing action. The bite wasn’t as good as Mike [HOF] and Ron [RHW] had on Tuesday but still was alot of fun. This time of year it is so very peacefull out on the lake as theres not much traffic. You will find mostly fishermen along with a pontoon or two and maybe a pleasure boat once in awhile. With the forcast being very nice for Saturday I would expect more traffic than other days have seen lately. The water level is currently being dropped down to winter lower level which is around a foot and a half lower. Right now its about half way there. You would think that that shouldn’t make much difference but at the boat ramps it makes a big difference for launching and loading a boat which can cause problems for bigger boats so please be carefull.
Thanks, Bill
