Aaron, Ron, and I made plans to get the boat wet and catch some crappies. At least part of the plan came together. Seems I forgot the foot control for my trolling motor and the starting battery didn’t make it through winter. We decided to not launch the boat and go fish from a shore spot. We were in the backwaters of pool 4. The water is high, but not so high as to be unfishable. We found a shoreline with some flooded brush and used mini-mites to catch several crappies. Kept enough for a meal for Ron and let the rest swim again. Fishing the mini-mites 12-15 inches under a bobber was the best method. It sure was nice to be catching fish in open water again!
