Good day on the big Z

I haven’t had a chance to get to the river for a while and I needed a fishing fix so I headed to the Zumbro about 9:30 this morning. Things started slow but after I started threading a wax worm all the up on my Diamond Jig hook things started to happen. It still amazes me how sensitive to size and color these fish can be. I was fishing in 23 FOW and found the gills hugging the bottom and the crappie’s around the 19-21’ mark. By noon there were some good spurts where it was one-after-another. When the fish were hot I did well on a pink purest (needed a splitshot to get it down) and a pink head-purple Ratso I left at 2:00 for a phone conference with the fish snapping. You don’t see many kill pictures from me but for the first time this year I took 10 home for the table. That will make 3 meals for the wife and I. I suspect I had about 30 fish total. I may be back there tomorrow AM.

    John
