The bite has backed off as far as being a hot bite but there are fish to be found for sure. The crappies are the missing fish in the bite. With the low of around 28 degrees last Friday night and our first good frost the crappies seem to have gone on strike. As the weather settles the bite should start picking up again. And its going to get even better as fish start feeling the urge to put on the feed bag as the fall period moves in. I fished for a couple hours Saturday am and found the water temp had dropped to 67.8 degrees. Even with the drop in air temps it was a beautiful morning to be on the lake. Boat numbers were few and it was very calm and peacefull on the water. Mini-mite jigs from HOF both with and without a waxie caught fish. The bites were softer than they had been lately due to the cold front so hooksets were better with the waxie. Be sure and get out and enjoy the great fall fishing thats coming our way.

    Thanks, Bill

I was out there yesterday from about 7.30 until 12.30. Initially found some fish in Ryans, in about 6 FOW – lots of interest by the fish, but they were light bites, just nipping at the tail type.

Moved to the main channel about 10.00, or when the sun peaked out, and there I found fish in 13-20 FOW – scattered, but there. Just moving the boat w/ the TM, fishing about 10′ deep, w/ a close as possible to vertical approach, I got some nice sunnies and 3 crappies. Was using a red and chartruese tube.

Three of the sunnies were small – non keepers. Most were 7.5 to 8″, the crappies were 9.5-10″. Also a lone LMB of about 10″. All released.
