This Labor Day I was back in the saddle on Lake Zumbro with Mike [HOF] Smith for some multispieces fishing and the fishing was HOT! Mike and I easily caught over a 100 fish today. It just doesn’t get any better than that.
I’m going to have alittle fun in my first report of being back in the saddle with my first pic being a catfish for Briank. Its not a big one Brian but its a catfish. lol. Sure felt great being back on water again. Mike and I decided to go after multispieces this Labor Day and the fish were there to greet us.
Even the bass were there to greet us. Casting to shore and fishing deep water docks provided some bass for us as you can see in the pic of Mike with a nice largemouth bass.
Blue gills of all sizes including a bunch of VERY nice ones were caught straight line jigging mini-mites at all water depts depending on which place we were fishing. Deeper water seemed to produce alot of the bigger ones.
The crappies that were caught like the one pictured with Mike were caught pitching jigs and straight line jigging mini-mite jigs to wood in deep water.
All the fish we caught today, easily over a 100, were caught on different color mini-mites jigs. This jig has proved itself over and over again to be ”the hot jig” for us on Lake Zumbro. The weekend was a great one to be on the water with very nice weather and no rain. Can you believe it, a holiday weekend and not a drop of rain. This was my first weekend back on the water and it sure felt great. I sure am looking forward to a very long fall of fishing. See you on the water.
Thanks, Bill
