Flood/fishing impact

With the considerable flooding through the entire SE region, can only imagine what kind of impact this will have on fishing.
From the lakes over by Faribault, Lake Zumbro, Mississippi, it’s backwaters, the local reservoirs and the trout streams?
This has got to disrupt and influence our fisheries.
To what degree and how long is the question.
Anyone care to guess and provide an opinion?

The thing that concerns me most is loss of habitat. Trout streams only have X amount of biomass (food – bugs – minnows) – we can’t add more. I think of all the pollutants that have run through our watersheds (manure, human waste, etc.) and think the worst. That said, trout are pretty hearty creatures and will return in due time. Some areas (eastern southeast MN) got hit way harder than other areas. I’m not trying to minimize 10 inches of rain in the Rochester area to the 15 inches in Houston Co., but you see my point. Stream recovery is alreay underway as the flood waters subside.

Time will tell how good fishing will be in September.

I don’t have any idea about Lake Zumbro, the reservoirs, etc.

    Just another two cents,

I wouldn’t expect a long term impact on the lakes. I see that the level of Lake Zumbro has dropped a ft. in the past 11 hours.
The water temp will likely be much lower than what we were seeing. I suspect the patterns in the lakes will make an early entrance in the fall transition.

Rivers and streams will take a hit. I don’t worry about the Zumbro a bit or the fish in it. Remember that all waters with current are ever changing. The amount of displacement by volumn in the lake will absorb a lot of the harshness that the rivers and streams will see. DA has a good handle on the river aspect. The lake will be fine.
