I took a shot at tying some buck tail (1/16 & 1/8oz) jigs on Sunday afternoon, and last night I took them out for a test drive.

I made some casts – and while watching my line as I retrieved, noticed that it got much more taunt – and I hadn’t felt a thing – the line tension was the only indication of the hit.

I set the hook, and felt a tug, the drag howled and fish started moving…. When the drag stopped howling, I started to retrieve, and then the drag started in again….

and you guessed it – the line went limp – cut clean as if with a knife…felt good while it lasted – but then everything feels good on a 4# mono on a ultra-light.

So should any of you catch a toothy with a white bucktail w/a green head in its mouth… can I have my jig back?

Just the jig? Don’t want the fish back too?

Cheer up, now you know your jigs catch fish.

Someone else can have the fish….there are plenty of them around – but me make a lure that works – that is an investment worth protecting…:)
