I took a shot at tying some buck tail (1/16 & 1/8oz) jigs on Sunday afternoon, and last night I took them out for a test drive.
I made some casts – and while watching my line as I retrieved, noticed that it got much more taunt – and I hadn’t felt a thing – the line tension was the only indication of the hit.
I set the hook, and felt a tug, the drag howled and fish started moving…. When the drag stopped howling, I started to retrieve, and then the drag started in again….
and you guessed it – the line went limp – cut clean as if with a knife…felt good while it lasted – but then everything feels good on a 4# mono on a ultra-light.
So should any of you catch a toothy with a white bucktail w/a green head in its mouth… can I have my jig back?
