It was like Buck Perry said: the fish are shallow, deep, and somewhere in between. Some caught their fish deep which would be the norm for this time [summer] of year. My youngest son Nate and I fished out of the same boat last night and our fish all came shallow. Both bluegills and crappies. I know, go figure. lol. Not suppose to be shallow, they vacated the shallows awhile back ago, but yet ours came shallow. And all were caught on Mini-mites. Yep, even got him hooked on them. They are addicting because they catch fish. The only problem is he kicked my behind using them. He took 2nd and I took 4th. Oh well, we had a blast, and was great fishing with my son. As our kids grow and eventially get married and start their own family its harder to get together out fishing like we use to. Lake Zumbro is close to home guys and gals. Get your kids [if you don’t have any then borrow a neighbors] and get out there or any nearby waters fishing together. Enjoy that time together on the water before they get too old and have a family of their own. Make it a special father/son bonding time or as Mike Schmidt did last night make it a father/daughter bonding time night. And before you know it Mike Josie will be kicking your hind end. In fact I know she wants to join Walleye Seachers when shes older. Now thats a great job of raising a daughter if you ask me. Gee…you would think I was a fishing addict for my last sentence. Fishing is a sport that the whole family can enjoy. Pass it on, share it, do it, enjoy it. These Thursday nights have become special nights for us guys/gals who have been fishing them. Its a weekly night where we anglers get together to have a night of fun. We see/meet old friends and new friends. We all learn. Nobody knows it all, the bite changes from morning to afternoon to evening and fishing is a continueous learning experience. If you haven’t tried fishing on Thursday nights with us you need to give it a try. Its fun. Bring your kids, wife/girl friend, fishin buddies, neighbor, anyone you want or come alone. Everyone is welcome. Hope to see you out there.
Thanks, Bill
