Hey everybody…..new to the board here, but I check once in a while for fishing info……

I have been out to Gamehaven and Willow Creek on foot, but I was wondering what the limitations of access are on Chesterwoods and Willow Creek res.

I have a 17ft run-about with an electric trolling motor, can I launch in either of these two lakes. Also, what are the fee’s for Chesterwoods these days.

Was out on Zumbro this past weekend, and ran into some nice crappies and some bluegills near the power dam. Would like to try that again, as well as trying these smaller bodies of water…..any advice or info would be appreciated…..

    Good Fishin,

    Hey,

Thanks guys….I was thinking I might drop in out at Chesterwoods and check out the bluegill and crappie action sometime soon.

Anyone that has any info on Willow Creek Res…..please let me know…..I would like to drop my boat in there is possible and check out the panfish.

Any of you guys fish in the city limits on the Zumbro? Any ideas where to go? Sometimes I don’t have time to take the boat out, but a little bank fishing would be cool. I hear some people catch pike and smallies in the river, somewhere in town, but I don’t really know where to really access the river, other than off of broadway and maybe up by 41st street and West River road.

    Thanks,

    Dave

you could carry canoe into willow creek ress and thats about it and as to chester woods its electric motor only and they do charge 5 dollars to get into the park for a daily fee and 25 for a season pass

ive had my 16 footer on willow creek resavoir i called the city parks department and talked to a couple people and they told me trolling motor only its really not worth the hassle to wrestle a boat in there but it can be done a canoe is ur best bet also i kinda felt like a jerk backing my boat in there with all the kids/families that fish the shorelines out there i was in the way and im sure a pain in the tail so hope this helps ya out go to chester or the river!

i am pretty sure that all waters in city limits are ok for electric trolling motor use. i have been on silver lake, both willow and gamehaven with electric and no one has bothered and most of those have a sign posted that states it. They don’t care boat length just electric motor. I have seen some near barges on chester and no bother. ike

The “ramp” at Willow (if you can call it that) was intended for carry in – canoes, kayaks, etc. Yes – there is black top going down there – but that is to assist the folks in wheel chairs getting to the dock.

Look closely – and see that the black top curves away from the water, and once it does, the ground drops away sharply from the paved area – also notice the rocks at the waters edge.

There is plenty of other water available for boats that need trailer lanching.

Thanks for all the info guys…..yeah, sounds like Willow Creek Resivoir might be bank fishin’for me…….to large of a boat to launch in there I think.

Chesterwoods and Zumbro will probably me my most frequented spots.

For anyone interested, if you spot a maroon and gray runabout with a 75 merc….and a young guy with a cigar….that’s probably me.

    Stop by and say hi……

    Thanks,
