Announcing the 2007 Hooked On Fishing League! This year’s league begins Thursday April 12th and continues every Thursday into September. We will meet at the DNR launch near Ponderosa Campground on Lake Zumbro with launch time at 5:00 p.m. each week. The ending time each week is 8:30 p.m. and you must be back at the launch by 8:30 in order to weigh your catch. There is an entry fee of $5 per person, with 100% payback – 1st place receives 60%, 2nd place 30%, 3rd place 10%. You can enter up to 4 sunfish and 4 crappies, potential of 8 total. Total weight will be used to determine winners. We will also keep an on-going point total like last year to crown an over-all champion for the year. Points will be awarded as follows for each week: 5 points for 1st place, 3 points for second place, 1 point for everyone else who registered.
You must be present at the ramp prior to 5 p.m. to register or call HOF before 3 p.m. if you will be arriving late. It is OK to show up later than 5 p.m. Your $5 entry fee is due at registration before launch or if you call to register, your entry fee is due at weigh-in time.

Questions should be directed to Mike Smith at HOF, 282-4982 or [email protected]

Feel free to bring your friends too guys. You can fish as many out of your boat as you want. There are no teams. Each guy is his own team. You can fish them all or fish just a few if you want. Its up to you. Each night is its own so to speak. The point system is just basicly for the guys who want to compete for a year end plaque and are showing up for all or most all of the events. If you aren’t competing for that then just ignore the point totals. Come out for that nights FUN and for some more if you like. Its a good excuse to ”have to go fishin hon as its leaque night” if you know what I mean. If you want to fish but your boat is in the shop just post saying you are looking for an open seat if somneone has one. Hope to see you there.
    Thanks, Bill

Good point Bill. I hope that people are not thinking they need to fish most of the events in order to win anything. The point system is just for the people that fish most of the events, and the winner will get a trophy at the end of the year. Each week there are winners of 100% of the entry fees collected for that week. It’s never too late to fish some of these events. The more, the merrier!

This is a great way to get your kids, wife, and friends interested in fishing. You can fish as many in a boat as you want. Lots of FUN and very low key. Some fish for competition and others like me just plain go fishing for the fun of fishing with a bunch of new and old friends that I’ve made through fishing. Its a great way to have a weekly excuse to get out on the water with family and friends. Fish one time or all the Thursday nights, its up to you. Hope to see you there.
    Thanks, Bill

Today’s weather looks like it will be windy and a little unsettled with possible strong storms later in the afternoon. Looking on the radar at this time does not show much for any storms, so maybe they will miss us?

I will be monitoring the situation and if anything changes, I will post it here. If there are no new posts from me, we will have everything as scheduled.

    Thanks,

    Mike

The weather this week looks very good. Should be a very nice night out on the Zumbro. The fish seem to be moving into their summer patterns and may be found suspended over deeper water. The trick is getting them to bite!
Hope to see many of you for the tourney Thursday night!

Due to the eariler sunsets now that we are into September, the HOF League events will switch to Saturday mornings from 8 a.m. – 12 noon. This is effective immediately with the next event to be on September 8th. There will be no event on Thursday evening September 6th.

I liked Nates idea that he told me when I told him about the tournament day change. He said lets have the Thursday night one this week and then Saturday start the new day ones. Get another excuse to go fishing that way.
    Thanks, Bill

Not a bad idea, but the next one is Sat.
