Ok…heres the deal. Blame Catch-n-Release for this as he gave me the idea without realizing he did it. You get one guess only. The prize is a ”6-pack of Mini-Mites [6 jigs w/plastic] in the Crappie/Bullgill size” at HOF that I will pay for. The correct guess has to be what day will the ice be out at the Ponderosa Campground DNR Public boat ramp? Now when I say at this location I mean the whole canal from the ramp out to the open water that has to be open out in from of the entry way. Other words boats must be able to get in and out of there and theres open water for them to boat the most of the whole lake in except the water from the dam to the left bay area that you see as you entrance ”out” of the canel can still be frozen. Any questions, please ask.

To answer the first question before anyone asks it: if there are more than one person guessing it correct then you split the 6-pack of Mini-Mites. I know, small, maybe very very small prize, but the intent of this is only for fun and to make it fun.
    Thanks, Bill

Haha! Judging by Mikes answer I’m gonna start hoping for some more freezing temps

That is good news! Think Bill would notice if I edited my post? I’ll just have mark my calendar for next year so I can post a better guess.

Chris, did you have a typo when typing and mean’t to type an ”n” instead of a ”m”? Which would make ENT. ENT = Empty Net Today. Could resist Bud…. just had to…..just wanted to…..gone and done it…..its done.

If we get cursed and get freezing temps so only Sandy Point boat ramp is open as the others are still froze [NOT going to happen] then I’m sure glad I have the jon boat. Now if I remember to ”borrow” the drain plug from Toms jon boat [don’t tell him I said that] I might have the only boat on the water on April 12th.

That webcam looks like it is set up at the Fishermans Inn side of Postiers Point which would be the first house you come to coming from Fishermans Inn. Not positive but looks like it. With that area all open and warm temps along with alittle rain over the next week that several of the days have forcast and add spring winds its going to be open water for sure soon.
    Thanks, Bill

    Can I guess march 25th???
Just got back from the Zumbro.
Looks to me like you could go about anywere.
Fishermans Inn had zero ice,and the Ponderosa was open as well.

    Later, Brad G.

BUT the water from the ramp entrance through Ryans Bay is still frozen. Won’t be long though. It ain’t over yet.

Looks like I’ll be checking it every night after work as its getting pretty close to opening up. Countdown time.

    Thanks, Bill

ps. Time to get new line on the reels, stock the tackle box, gas the boat, check trailer tire air pressure, and best of all – check out the open water fishin skills that have been in hibernation all winter. Did I say OPEN WATER? YAHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

Greg couldn’t wait for Bill, so he went out to check the situation out. Guess what – we have a winner! Today was the day for complete ice out on Lake Zumbro. Congrats on your correct guess Greg! I can’t remember what Bill said he was giving as a prize, but that new Okuma Alumina Baitcaster you looked at today would be nice!
