I drove up river [by car on road ] to the Old Sandy Point boat ramp and liked what I saw ALOT better than the Fisherman Inns findings. In other words – more open water. This pic is from the bridge looking towards the Fishermans Inn area and its open water. There is some ice to the right in that bay area at the front of the pic but thats shallow anyway as the river channel [deeper water] in this pic is on the left side.

This public landing will be used a lot shortly. There are benefits to having a smaller boat when putting in here. I don’t think your new ride could make it in very easily here can it Bill?
March 22, 2007 at 1:04 am #551777Hey Chris, my Alumacraft boat probably wouldn’t go in or out very good here as this ramp area even outward a ways is shallow due to being silted in. BUT my jon boat and some waders should work just find. I haven’t used this ramp for MANY years but I always see trailers there in the summer so some do put in there.
March 22, 2007 at 1:06 am #551779I saved the best pic for last. Open water at this boat ramp.
ENJOY!!!
March 22, 2007 at 1:38 am #551801That is the best! Maybe I’ll try it this weekend So much water to fish….life’s too short Man I love Minnesota!! I didn’t realize you kept your jon boat..great news
March 22, 2007 at 1:47 am #551811I like Bill’s new boat, lots of room for us more mature types. His jon boat is over weight limit when just Bill and I are in it, and it sort of cramps my style – and legs!

Not fussy, just old and sore…… Oh, and you only wish you were younger than me!
March 22, 2007 at 2:09 am #551825Sounds like you geriatric folks will have to buy a place on Rattlesnake or the high banks so your dock has deep enough water to hold the launch you’re gonna have to eventually buy. And with those steep banks you’ll have to get an electric lift too.
Did I go too far?

You will find out someday if you are missing a boat plug one day. [did I say that? ]

Just remember one thing Chris – we may be old, but we still have a trick or two up our sleeves.
March 22, 2007 at 2:16 am #551833heheheh If I do end up missing a plug that’s ok. I’ll just make a waypoint on the way down so I have a new hotspot to fish.
And now I know who to keep it a secret from

March 22, 2007 at 2:18 am #551836I wonder how many spare drain plugs Chris has….cause hes gonna NEED THEM ALL.
March 22, 2007 at 2:22 am #551838Ok ok… I don’t think you guys are THAT old…really
In fact you aren’t old at all. Just wise and experienced. Bill can I have my boat plugs back now?

Nope…gotta save them ALL in case you pull mine out.
Ok, tell you what. How about you, HOF, and I all go out some day on Lake Zumbro and do some northern fishing. Then after that we go do some bullgill fishing. Sound like a deal?
Can we all say FISH ON!
