Even though I didn’t catch a fish, I have more points this year than last. Last year I finished with 1/2 a point.

Thanks a bunch Mike and Hooked on Fishing for putting this league together. I won’t be able to attend next Thurs because I’ll be Strugeon Fishing on the Rainy/LOTW

Smith, you only beat me by one lousy ounce. But I see that we are tied in the points race. YES!

I caught a 3 ounce crappie? I didn’t know there were any that small out there.

I prefer to think that I beat the weight of your fish by 33%!

All in all, I’d say it was an embarassing performance for the whole lot of us. Hopefully warmer days are ahead!

Yes, that cold water can make for a humbling experience. Of course, you beat Dan’s fish weight by 100%!

What I don’t understand is that the payback is to 3 places yet higher points are only given to 2 places. Oh well….whose complaining….I came in 4th place [along with the other guys ]

Another thing I don’t understand….I fished in the boat of a Bait Shop owner AND also a Bait Business owner yet there were no minnows in the boat. Do you know how many crappies I could of caught with lively minnows….I would of atleast been guaranteed 4th place….

    Thanks, Bill

Bill, we both know that you would have only caught white bass with minnows….

White bass would of been alot of fun. With only 1 hr and 55 minutes of on the water time which included running time and since no crappies or bullgills found my jig atleast the whitebass would of kept me busy. Now I wonder why you didn’t include whitebass in the mix?
    Thanks, Bill

By the way….I brought my boat home tonight….just in time to fill it up with gas ….just in time to spend 88 bucks in gas..[luckily it wasn’t empty before I filled it]…think I spent my summer boat gas allowance in one fill up ….and just in time to spend the weekend with Makenzie as grandpa is watching her this weekend as I said I would a couple months ago….BUT I get to put the stuff like rods, life jackets etc in it so will get to play some in it while its in the driveway….IF she lets me. Shes real good at disciplining me. If I bother her too much while shes watching Barney or The Wiggles she takes me into the room where the computer is and motions for me to sit down in the chair. Then after I sit down she turns around and runs back out to the TV. I think she has made my chair thats in front of the computer my ”time out” chair. Very smart little 18 month old gal. Need to get it out on the water and make sure everything is working ok so the wiring can be cleaned up so its out of the way better. Little by little I’m getting there. I thinks its time to say FISH ON alot more often.

    Thanks, Bill

Any guess to who’s gonna win tomorrow? Watch out for Smith and his buggy whip.

Hopefully we’ll have a decent turnout. Monday night was fun so let’s hope for a repeat tommorow night. (Except for Mike of course!)

I took a couple Pastor’s out this morning and it was a whole different ballgame. Not a fish where we got them Monday night. Did manage to find some a couple other places.

Well Mike, I will be searching for walleyes on Thur so I won’t be at the HOF league – although, I do plan to eventually get there.

I wonder if at the next event you could get a close up picture of another 4 fish hold? Then maybe challenge the guys to see who can hold all 8 fish? It would make for some interesting pics.

    Mike,

You should have casted to the other side of the boat.

I’ll be there as well Thursday. Will be my first open water trip of the year, so I’m definately a bit behind you guys.

Results for 4-19 are in. The fish were their usual unpredictable selves. What had been working well for me was not the pattern tonight. Congrats to the winners!

    1st – Andy (SBR it) – 3 lb. 5 oz. – $30, 5 points.

    2nd – Bill (C&R Guy) – 3 lb. 4 oz. – $15, 3 points.

    3rd – Rick Cordie – 2 lb. 10 oz. – $5, 1 point.

    Everyone else gets 1 point.

Had alot of fun tonight. The big crappies didn’t like my boat tonight. Mike and I each had one nice big crappie, the kind that are made for lipping, but only one small crappie to join it and a bunch of bluegills. Andy A. caught himself a northern in our crappie spot which might explain it. Atleast he had a blast with the northern and some bluegills too. It was a very fun night. We had ten guys tonight so each week is seeing more guys. The water temps were between 56 and 58 degrees depending on where we were. Weather was nice but yet was alittle colder than last night. It sure felt great being on the water another night. Just can’t get enought daylight hours after work for this guy. We need the daylight savings time to be two hours ahead. The weather is getting nicer every week and the fish are more active each week than the previous week and if you are looking for a good time come on out on Thursday nights and join us. Everyone is welcome.

    Thanks, Bill

Congrats Wilhorn! What a sleeper. Like the guy who shows up to a race with a little Chevette. Only he has a LS1 stuffed under the hood.

Alex and I could only muster up one crappie but had our 4 each of the gills. Total opposite of Monday where all I could get was crappies and no gills.

Both Andy and Bill had a LS1 stuffed under their hoods. Some very nice weights there for sure. Great seeing you again Dan along with others that I haven’t seen in awhile. Maybe we can get them to share how they caught their fish. Again, not spots, but techniques only.

    Thanks, Bill

It was definately nice to be out on the water (soft, not hard) water again. With the winds the way they were, I knew my favorite areas would be difficult to target, so I had to go explore and I was very rewarded with the crappies. My first spot was a bit protected from the stronger winds and after some searching I found a pod of crappies near some wood. Junebug paddletail with an 1/32 oz jig under a float was the ticket. I probably caught 12-15 fish out of that area ranging from 8-11 inches. I experimented with adding some Powerbait crappie niblets, but they preferred the paddletail without it.

I couldn’t find any ‘gills in the area so it was off to another. I tried a few of my favorite areas, but the wind was just too much so I moved to another area I’ve liked. After a bit I had a hit and picked up a nice rock bass. Following that I missed a bunch and figured the ‘gills where taking the tail and playing games with me. So I “downsized a bit” and gave them a purple sparkle minimite and a chartruese jig. The hits continued, but so did the misses. I put on the crappie niblets and proceeded to pick up a few ‘gills. Even still they were hitting short, but I did manage to put 4 in the boat for weigh in and missed more than I caught.

Finally went to another of my favorite spots and picked up a few more nice crappies on the paddletail combo.

The best is only yet to come out on the Zumbro. Thanks to Mike for putting on the event. Hopefully I’ll be able to make a few more.

The bluegills were biting VERY light last night. Had to watch your float very close in order to see the slightest movement and then set the hook. You had a VERY nice weight there. Congrats. Great to see you again Andy.
    Thanks, Bill

The fish catching on Zumbro is going well! Got out today and found lots of male crappies fairly shallow. They were waiting for their girlfriends to move shallow, but the girls were still a bit deeper. With some stable weather and warmth, the spawn should be here very soon. Remember to let the big girls go so we have lots of crappies in the future!

Hope to see lots of you tomorrow night for the tourney!

This consistant warm weather we are having should warm the water temps pretty darn good and that means the fish will be getting more and more active each day. What did you have for temps Mike? Its great weather for fishing so be sure and get out guys and enjoy it.
    Thanks, Bill
