managed to get out on the pond for my first time today with my son and had a good time with the gills and landed one 11″ rainbow.used waxies on or near the bottom in 5′-12′ of water.white ratso seemed to do the trick for me and my boy got all his on a 1/8oz green jig tipped with waxies.does not look like dragging an auger along will be necesary anymore as the hundreds of predrilled holes should only require a spud bar to get open for the rest of what sounds to be a short ice season now.alot of water standing around on top of the ice today and not alot of clear ice below the refrozen slush lately.I hope to get one more try at it next weekend if I am able to.

Thanks for the report. Sounds like a fun day for both of you. How thick was the ice where you were fishing?
    Thanks, Bill

it looked to be 12″-15″ in spots but the top half was a lot of refrozen slush.

Made it out myself today for about 3 hours as well a very very very tough bite for trout..you go to the bottom you got small fish but lets just say if you have a ice house bring it!! I sight fished for the last 2 hours and had 3 break offs at the hole of trout 20+ inches you would see these fish swim bellow the ice litterally rubbing there back on the bottom I landed a 21,22 and 4 fish 13-16 inches and also helped a couple guys around flying solo ice some SUMO fish including a 24 3/4″ BEAST the ice around shore is going down fast! It is gonna be a day or two and getting out will be very tricky be safe guys you can see clearly where springs are eating through the ice out there

I was out there last Thursday and the fishing was pretty good. I caught a couple decent brookies and a couple rainbows between 18 and 20 in. I also lost a fish in the weeds that hit extremely hard and took out drag fast. It fought twice as hard as the rainbows I caught earlier. It had to be a monster fish.

Thanks Mike for the minnows. I was the kid that came in and paid with the debit card. I was out of cash.

i went out for a couple hours and caught a 17inch rainbow and a 12 inch brook jigging waxies across from the beach and i saw a guy catch a rainbow that probably went 3 1/2 lbs and a 12 inch brook on minnows right out in front of the beach the ice should still be good for another couple days there was about a foot in all the spots i was in and about 3 to 4 inches of slush
