Thing stunk so bad I had to switch holes

    Brandon,

That was a first for me. Seeing a dead fish caught! Looked like it would have weighed a good 5-6 lbs. For those of you wondering, he caught (snagged) a northern that was well past being healthy……..

That was a good one. Also was fun watch Doug set the hook so hard on a bluegill that he did a back flip off his bucket. Doug, have you been watching tooooo many of those bass shows where the guy sets the hook with all his might??? Great time today for many many reasons. Was great to see everyone enjoy themselves doing what we all love to do-fishing.
    Thanks, Bill

Ironically it is atleast my third!

I caught one last year in Northern Wi. that had line rapped around it, attached to a rapala.

I also caught one like this in the Boundry Waters. All Northerns First one on the Ice though

If you ever get a dead fish catagory I guess maybe I could win that

You and Catchnrelease need to go fishing together since you both are good at catching northerns. Only his are ALIVE. Seriously, Chris is very good at catching big northerns on Lake Zumbro. You guys would have FUN.
    Thanks, Bill

ps. in fact it would be nice if Chris shared his northern skills with Mike and myself. [hint hint ]

Thanks for the very nice donation Wade. That was very nice of you. For your electronics needs guys Wade is a great guy and place to buy from. I say this because with every purchase I have made from Jolly Ann Marine Electronics Store over the years has been received with great service, great prices, and no shipping and no tax if you live outside of Iowa. Honest, its a great place to buy your electronics and map chips. I’m a VERY happy customer.
    Thanks, Bill

I’d say to say THANKS to Mike HOF Smith for all the donations he provided for the GTG. He went way overboard and wanted to make sure everybody got something. Mike has always put us anglers first and has been very kind to everyone. When we need to purchase something for our ”weapons to catch fish” all I ask is that we check out Hooked On Fishing first to see if they have the items we want. Mike is also able to order items for us too. We need to support our local bait shop to make sure it is always there for us. We get ALOT of fishing reports from HOF and its only fair that we give him our business in return. You will find that HOF carries ALOT more than just lively bait. Its a one stop shop for your fishing needs. Thanks Mike for all you do for all of us.

    Thanks, Bill

A very big THANK YOU to Mike and Bill and Doug for all the work and fun. As usual my son out fished me again. Can’t say enough about the great gifts from some great sponsors. Thanks Hooked on Fishing, Jolly Ann Marine, LaDredge Outdoors and Al’s Specialty Marine. Hard to sum the day up in one word. Food, fun, fish, sunshine, slush, dead fish, 5 way ties on size, backflips, smiles, laughs, old friends and new friends, ugly green hats, ugly dead animal hats and too long a time until we all do it again.

Bill I’d be happy to let my luck rub off on ya if I could follow you and Mike for just a day on open water. I could learn enough in a day from you guys to end world hunger. Panfishing is not my forte! Then again neither is any other type of fishing

It really was a fun time as the weather, food, and company were great and everyone managed to catch some fish also. A big thank you to Mike, Bill, & Doug, sponsors who donated prizes, and everyone else who donated their time and efforts to make this event a huge success. All of your efforts are appreciated. I was surprised that no crappies were caught either but catching some nice gills made up for it. Looking forward to next year’s GTG already.

I’d like to also Thank Ron [RHW] for helping me cover the food cost. His help made everything alot better than it could of been without his help. And Ron had to miss the GTG due to a flu that put him into the hospital. I did talk to his wife tonight and she said that she brought him home from the hospital today but hes still very week. Get well soon Bud. You are missed. Rons imput on panfishing will take you to a much higher level than I could do Chris. Ron is a bluegill geru with many years, even more years than you are old, of experience and can teach us all alot. I can’t wait to hear all he has to say when open water gets here. We are never too old to learn and I certainly keep coming back here to learn all I can. We will never know it all and knowledge is a big part of catching instead of just fishing. Come on spring.
    Thanks, Bill

This is late, but better that than never…..

I had a great time there and it was a pleasure to meet with so many new faces. And as is usual at something like this event, even the dead [northern] can be caught.

Lots of people, lots of fish caught, beautiful day….makes it hard to beat. Not having Ron there was the down side of this and he was truely missed. But not forgotten.

Awe, yes. The IDA GTG on the Zum was a grand old time. Like the rest, I want to drop a huge thanks to Mike – HOF and the rest of the sponsors for donating a table full of prizes. Another big Thanks goes to Bill and Ron for the incredible array of food. Thanks Doug and Chris for your help running the show as well.

It was a great turnout and a fine day for fishing. The gills were starting to become a little more aggressive than I’ve seen them in a while. I brought to light about 30 of them as well as one lonely 9.5” perch. (Longest gill went 8.75”).

It was great to meet everyone out there as well. Of course seeing some familiar faces was also nice.

This was a fun event and I applaud all those involved with setting it up. Nice work. I’m quite sure everybody that made it out there had a great time. Thank You
