Wondering if anyone has noticed using a undewater cam if the fish are less likely to bite when the camera is 4 to 8 feet away from your jigging hole. Especially with trout. I havent noticed diff with sunnies yet.

Do real weeds help this situation?? are they worth it.,

In my experience, walleys DO NOT like my camera. Panfish, are more curious than anything I think. I do believe the Reel Weed Camera cable does work to make the eyes less weary.

I agree!! If you are fishing walleye a camera is not your best friend. You will see plenty on camera but they do not like to bite on camera, even a tip-up. Pike, crappies, blugill and perch don’t seem to care at all, and in most cases you will catch more by using a camera.

Anyone have any knowledge with smallies ? my sister has a place in Canada (crow lake) gin clear water (see bottom to 15ft) and I thought of buying a camera, the smallies are deep on the reefs there, as far as I know.

I’d have to disagree with you on the Smallies, Scott just talking from my own experiences..It seems like they are extremely curious about the camera and come from all over to take a look at it and then go on high alert…I’ve had schools of them following the camera on several occasions only to find out I couldn’t get bit after sending the cam down when I was catching them before hand…I’m sure if I were to give em a break for a little bit they would become catchable again…but I don’t have the patience for that

my expeirence is the same with use of the camera in the back-waters of pool 12&13, and the chain of lakes in Chicago I haven’t seen a walleye on screen. The visibility has been about 3-4 ft. And the real-weeds probably do work but where I’ve fished there’s been standing weeds. Where there wasn’t there weren’t fish it was like looking at the bottom of the ocean floor lol. desolate

I don’t have a problem when it comes to crappies, gills, pike and perch, it doesn’t seem to bother them. Walleye are a different story. I can’t recall catching a eye with my camera down. Seen them but they tend to stay on the outer edge of visibility, leary. My camera stays home most of the time now. I’ll bring it on those all dayers to break up the day, but when it’s morn/eve. my camera isn’t down. The camera is great at first, cool to watch, etc…but it quickly becomes cumbersome and time consuming to operate. I’ll take my vex every time over the camera, in fact if I could go back I’d pass on the camera.

I would think that the camera weeds would do a good job of hiding the camera making it not so noticeable to walleyes and other fish that might shy away. Panfish don’t seem to be as concerned [scared] of a camera. Just another something that they can gather around like structure???
    Thanks, Bill
