There is alot snow right now. I am sorry I cant give you an exact amount because of the water slush mix. If it helps in my opinion getting around with a vehicle will be very tough and probably not recomended. I have been told that some 4×4 Atv’s are having trouble getting around so if you had a sled that would be a better option. I will be there on Sunday with my ATV to help if conditions let me. The nice thing is I think Mike has the get together in an area that is very acessable by foot.

Thats correct, you can walk about 25 yards and be in the middle of the get together and park on the road area. may need to park by the restaurant and walk down though as the road may not be cleaned down to the dead end. Still very easy walk. FF

I’ll have a sled and a tub that I can use to help people pull their stuff to the spot they want to fish…can’t wait to tool around on all of that snow

Fishermans Inn is right next to the water [ice now] so VERY easy to get to. I’m guessing a foot of snow on the ice BUT I have not been out there so am just guessing. I don’t think its smart to drive a vehicle on there as you would probably get stuck. But being right there at Fishermans Inn there is no need to drive anyway as you are already there.

    Thanks, Bill

ps. Anybody been out there real recently?

On Weds we had substantial open water off the end of the public parking area. The weather has not been cold enough to stop the advance of this and I would seriously consider saying no vehicles of any kind in the vicinty of the actual event.

The ice along the shore immediately to the left of the Fishermans launch site was wet on Weds too. Lots of water….right over 9 feet of the same. The trail down that coast was barely passable by 4wd pick-up and there were abundant soft areas where bogging down was an issue.
With all this new white and preceding rain, I can only imagine that nothing has improved. You do need to remeber that this entire bay is an eddy fed by incoming warmer, open water.

Also….Weds showed us that the spring normally found in the area of the event has shifted towards the channel and is just about even with the right hand side of the deck railing as you look at the lake from the deck. #0 feet or so. The ice was easily seven inches thinner there and tons of activity in that hole….bubbles.

The ice was good for foot traffic and people activity, but whether another day of near melting temps can do a lot to the character of the ice out there is uncertain. Better to err on the side of caution.
