OPEN WATER ON FOSTER

Spent a few hours fishing Foster today. Just a heads up for everyone that there is open water on the north end. A hole about 6 foot in diameter is open off the hitching post area. There is a spring in this spot and open water is not unusual. There is a good foot of ice with wet snow and slush on top. Be careful out there.
Now for the fishing report. Well the front and weather coming must have turned the trout on. I caught and released 7 in about 3 hours. My persoal biggest from here to boot. A 22″ brown that had a hooked jaw and looked beat up. Reminded me of being home on Lake Michigan. Also two 16″ one brown and one rainbow. A 13″ rainbow and a 12″ brown. Also had two under 10″. Add in one 6″ perch and it was a beautiful day. All on minnows, dead stick with a bobber. Nothing would touch anything jigged. Have fun and be safe. Mother nature is bringing us more winter fun.

Sounds like you had a blast Brian. Also thanks for the heads up about the open water and springs.
    Thanks, Bill

Thats a nasty spring. I imagine that last week’s rain event got enough water into the ground somewhere to re-energize this critter.

There is also another hole about six feet across. It’s where the brown tarp portable was near the southwest corner. They took their shack off last night and there was a lot of water around where it was. But after poking around with a spud, it’s definatley a big hole!
