I live in Inver Grove Heights, Mn. and I have been seeing 3 of them at least once a week in my backyard all winter. I see them feeding on the buckthorn berries. I have read articles that say due to the warm winters since 97′ many robins have called Minnesota home for 12 months a year! Pretty cool…RR
We have had them all winter in southern Wi , we had geese sitting in the middle of frozen fields for weeks in below zero conditions. This generation of birds doesent seem to have the migration urge anymore , due to the warmer weather.
We’ve had robins down here in the Dubuque area all winter long. They didn’t leave late last fall because the weather was so nice. They had good weather right into mid January. Before the little warming trend we had over a foot of snow on the ground and temps well below zero for days on end. Somehow the robins seem to have survived as I saw a large flock of them here in Dubuque this past Saturday.
Here’s a pic I posted a while back during some of that really cold stuff. I had at least a good two dozen or so hanging around for a couple weeks. They’ve since moved on after leaving one heck of a mess on my deck.
