With the sun going down as I was walking on, I was hopeful for a good crappie bite. Only to find a lot of small fish tonight. C&R joined me after he got off work. I was using a small glow devil & he was using a new diamond jig which he got at HOF in Roch. C&R did get a nice crappie just as I was leavin. I was in 26-28 fow. We moved around only to find more small fish willing to bite. Good Fishin DOUG AKA MrMuskie

Hmm I look cold Besides a few wind gusts it was actually a pretty nice night out to be popping holes. We did quite a bit of moving that night with little to show for it. Lots of fish on our flashers but not much for bites besides small fish. I caught more high suspended gills than i can remember before. I am still worried about what the ice is like between the dam and the beach. Has anyone been out there recently? It was a fun night fishing with great company

I drilled a bunch of holes out there today myself. Started out at the dam in 34′ of water and worked my way back, ending up with a couple holes in 12′. I caught quite a few bass and two gills with nothing of much size except for one of the bass. Tried a lot of depths, lures and minnows and spikes. You could definitely tell what kind of fish you were going to have on before you caught it. The two gills were creepers and you had to have the feel. The bass were smashing it and really hammered it if you could catch up with the suspended ones coming through. I had one small bass come up twelve feet to meet the diamond jig coming down. It looked like an air bubble coming up on the Marcum. My first day going from a Vex to a Marcum also. Probably not the best place for a first try. In fishing the trees, the deeper water and wider cone angle made for a lot of clutter.Probably a better place for the lx-5 and its smaller transducer angle.Seemed like I had to use way more gain than the Vex. I’ll give it a try down in the backwaters next weekend and hopefully it will work out better. And maybe this time I’ll be on the right end of the weather. It was cold and WINDY out there today. One of the only times I’ve used the shack supports in fishing SE MN.

By the way, that’s a nice bluegill. And I really wish I could have seen one of those crappies today. Still better than being at home doing the stuff I was supposed to be doing today.
