Good Morning Everyone. Did anyone get out fishing this past weekend? It was one of those milestone weekends where ice starts to form, in most cases not thick enough for walking on yet, and too cold for most to be in the boat, but a good start for ice making for the ice fishing season. As always there are a few who brave the cold conditions and make it out. The link below will take you to what Joeyno5 titles his thread: ”Joey’s First Ice Fishing Report.” I’m sure it was mighty cold being out there Joey and I am glad to see you accomplished catching some fish AND made it back ok [the most important part]. Most ice isn’t safe yet but in time it will be with these cold temps we are having. Be carefull, be safe, and it won’t be too much longer and we will be able to all say FISH ON!
    Thanks, Bill

PS. We ALL look forward to reading about YOUR ice fishing outtings once we have safe ice to be on.

AlvinMack and I braved the elements and hit Red Wing on Saturday. Nice little breeze we had going that day!

Anyhow, we managed to put some nice fish in the boat both pitching and vertical jigging. Ran back to the warmth of Dean’s shop a couple of times to thaw-out….Thanks Dean!

Afternoon finally became unbearable with everything freezing up, so took off early. I’m already anticipating the next trip though!

The kind that bite, what else?

Just kidding, we were pitching for walleye on shallow rock with ringworms and K-grubs. The walleye were eager to bite, but we didn’t get any true hogs. After a while of that we switched to sauger…caught a couple around the 4# mark as well as numerous others. Boat control was a pain in the ! Brutal, but better than sitting on the couch.
