Be sure and get out and enjoy this weekend as the highs in the low 50s will change according to the weatherman. Now granted, the weatherman is usually off, BUT he was right on with the last snow storm forcast for some strange reason. Don’t know what got into him to be dead right on for a change. lol. His next forcast will break some hearts [mine, cause the nice weather will be gone] and will make some people jump in joy as its going to get much colder. He is telling us that the highs in the Rochester area will only be in the 20s starting next Wednesday Nov. 29th. Now that will cause this guy to put his new toy away for the winter[ ] but will be great news for the guys who are very anxious for the cold to come so over a period of time with these low temps ice will start to form. Now, if we are going to get ice this is the best way for it to happen. We want good solid hard ice to form first before any snow gets on it as snow will only insulate the ice and keep it from getting thicker. So if we must get the ice then lets get it good and thick before it warms up any which would make it possible for snow to happen.
Its going to be time to put some of the open water toys away and get out the ice fishing stuff as that season will be getting much closer now with the colder temps very soon to happen. Time to take a much closer look at all the ice fishing goodies that Mike at Hooked On Fishing has out on display already. And when checking out the ice fishing jigs its a great time to remember to really stock up good as these small jigs work great in open water too. You don’t have to buy a card with several of the same jigs on it at HOF. They sell their jigs seperately so you can mix and match them anyway to want. Its another way of Mike putting your best interest first. Ice fishing rods just don’t have to be cheap insensitive rods either as Mike carrys Custom St. Croix rods too. Its a great feeling to feel a bullgill breathing on the end of your line with sensitive St. Croix rods. I’m a St. Croix rod addict and love it. I’m hooked, they are great, I love em. They are the best in my opinion and in thousands of other anglers opinions too. Gotta have em.
There is another thread in the Rochester Forum that talks about ”where are you going to ice fish first.” That ”first” is going to come quickly with the cold temps coming. But between now and when the ice is thick enough to fish on the Marina docks sure sound like a great place to fish from as gills and crappies will be in the Marinas at this time. Check out the thread I mentioned and let us know where you plan to fish first. Also check out the link in that thread https://www.in-depthoutdoors.com/community/forums/topic/rochester_420640/ to Lennys fishing report fishing the Marinas already with very good results.
Thanks, Bill
