The weather forcast calls for upper 40s Saturday and less wind and for 60 degrees for Sunday. Time to get out and get in on some of that great fall fishing.
    Thanks, Bill

Some kitties will eat anything including walleye lures. I was down on pool 4 today [Saturday] with my youngest son Nate and he hooked into a nice catfish. Please excuse my pic quality as I didn’t think to have us switch locations in the boat so the sun was behind me instead of in front of me when I took the pic. With the weather starting to warm up not only the cats came out to play but also the dogs [redhorse and sheepies, ] along with some walleyes too. Was a great to be on the water with the sun coming out and not alot of boat traffic. And the temps will be in the 50s next week it sounds like with around 60 tomorrow [Sunday] I hear. Have a great weekend everyone.
    Thanks, Bill

Anyone wanting any walleye catching tips be sure and stop out to Hooked On Fishing on Sundays as one of the top pool 4 walleye tournament guys [Nate Cadwell] will be working. [gotta have that extra money for tournaments ya know, ]. The seasonal hours for Sundays right now are 7am-2pm. And of course Mike makes sure he always has the right fish catching stuff on stock.
    Thanks, Bill

With Nate working yesterday, I had the day off! Guess what I decided to do? The Mississippi River backwaters near the Wabasha/Kellogg area seemed like a good bet. Found the water temp to be only 43 degrees and the fish were a little slow. They were not agressive, but they were catchable with some finesse tactics. Used a mini-mite jig tipped with a waxie set under a float at 2 ft. The weed lines were the best areas to find fish. Most of the bites were just barely a twitch of the bobber, but the fish had inhaled the jig and it was time to set the hook! This pattern should remain good right up to ice time and then the backwaters should present some great first ice action.

    Good Fishing,
    Mike

The gills were real nice between 8 and 9 1/4 inches. I also caught several nice perch with the largest at 10 inches.
