I was on Lake Zumbro for a few hours today and the water level is still down but I had no problem getting my 16 1/2 ft. boat in and out of the water at the Ponderosa Campground boat ramp. The fishing was alittle slower today but fish can be found by doing alittle searching. The fish I caught were close to either a dock or to the bottom mostly.

The bluegills were caught very close to docks. They were in tight and biting light. A Mini-Mite with a waxie were again the bait of choice wanted by the fish.

    Thanks, Bill

The stripers were mostly caught on the bottom with only a few up and chasing a in-line spinner. A Mini-Mite and minnow were the ticket for catching the stripers down in the bottom one foot of the lake bottom in 18 plus feet of water. It was a bit brezzy today but still a beautiful day to be on the water. Be sure and get out and enjoy the fall fishing before that other next up season [winter] decides to come our way.

    Thanks, Bill

Anybody ever eat white bass? I was down on the river today and picked up a few nice ones that would have produced some nice fillets if I kept them. I don’t think I’ve ever kept one to eat. Always heard they were a bit oily.

Yep, I’ve had them several times. You need to get rid of the red meat along the middle of the fillet just under the skin because that tastes fishy, but the remainder of the fillet is very good. I’ve mixed white bass with walleye and my guests are not able to tell the difference.

    Good Fishing,
    Mike
