Take a look at this pic and tell me how big this bass is. It was a hog coming in on a medium action ‘eye rod. Remember…name is Big D…i’m a big guy and any fish looks small against me…but this one was 21″ long. Been a diehard ‘eye guy for years, but this bass gig is getting fun.

Big D- I am not really a bass guy but will take a stab at it. I’ll say 4lbs 7oz. I am sure you will post the actual weight soon. By the way, nice fish Love2Fish

Hee Hee…I should have made it more clear. I don’t know how big the fish was, didn’t have a scale in the box, and was looking to the experts to tell me. A guy I was fishing with figured around 4#, but I have no idea. Sorry for the confusion. It was a fun fish to bring in. Personal record bass for me without doubt.

A lot of variables can make the weight different. But in one of my conversions, I come up with 21″ largemouth = 5.7 pounds.

I didn’t think Chester Woods had any big bass in it???

But yeah, No way it’s anywhere close to 5.7#’s……You’re holding the fish at a tough angle to get a good judgement, but if it was TRUELY a 21″er, I’d say around 4# would be accurate.

I dont know about 4#.We got intto a bunch of s/m last weekend and this is on the pic is only 3.11. I understand your a big guy and can make a fish look small. If you wouldnt have said 21 inchs i would have said that fish wont even hit 2#

A 21″er would prolly go around 4.5 lbs that one however prolly 1.4lbs got a pic of that thing next to a measure???

A normal Largemouth Bass 21 inches long would be over 5 lbs. It seems that pictures usually make LM’s look smaller.

A buddy of mine who saw the pic today said I need to learn how to hold a fish when I have it’s picture taken. I’ve caught some nice fish over the years, but only a handful worthy of a picture, and this one definitely was.

My guess is 3.5-4# (definitely not 1.4#) as like I said, it bent my ‘eye rod, and I wasnt’ able to lift it from the water with the rod, had to grab the fish to get it out without snapping the rod.

Thanx for the help guys…figured I would get solid numbers from you as I had no clue. I do know that fish was as meaty a fish as I have caught in years.

    Agreed Jake!

This is the chart I refered to. I think the girth on these measurements must be wide as footballs.

Big D! Nice fish!! I know what your going through, I am 6’5″ 250- and I hate it, because it makes the fish look tiny. Best way to hold bass for a pic is to lip them with one hand. Look here how this doofuss is holding the fish to make it look bigger!

This one was 21″ and it was way over 5.7- those northland charts aren’t worth much, because they don’t assume girth or eggs. I would assume it is just an average.
