OK for those of you who know me, I am an avid panfisherman.
However, on very rare occasion and in fantasy have I thought about seeking out the Walleyes. Don’t know nothing about them and how to catch em. This much I do know, panfishing equipment just isn’t going to cut it.
So after talking to several people and watching those darn addicting Walleye vidoes, decided to get in the game.
HOF put together a great Walleye outfit a couple years ago.
Okuma Metaloid open face with matching medium weight custom rod. Used it a couple times and loved it. Managed to actually scarf out a couple eyes. That peaked my attention to be sure.
A guy needs new toys, right? Bait casting reels have always fanscinated me. When I was a kid and graduated from cane poles, it was the old bait casters we used. Didn’t have any fancy open faces like those of today. Oh, hated those darn back lashes. However, the new ones today, if adjusted correctly, almost eliminates the birds nests.
    Gots to get one.
Went out to HOF and low and behold, there sits on the rack a custom 6’6″ walleye baitcasting rod. Then a few feet away in the dispaly case is this beautiful Okuma ID 150 gold bait casting reel. Didn’t take much to convince me to put the two together and walk out the door.
Even if I don’t use it much or catch fish, it sure is a pretty outfit and feels great in the hand.
Now the next step is to learn something about Walleye fishing.
Excuse me, can anyone tell me, does Walleye taste as good as panfish.
With two nice walleye outfits, even if I don’t catch them, I will at least look the part.

Congrats on the two new toys [tools]. Ron, I have a bunch of walleye fishing tapes. Just let me know when you want to come over and borrow some.
    Thanks, Bill

IMO, you will not find a better eating fish than a walleye. Panfish are a close 2nd to me, but I love my ‘eyes.
