Got out on the water yesterday morning early – looking specificly for bass.

Saw fish rising as we put the boat in the water near a patch of “slop” – so thats the first place we went. Upon arriving at the slop patch, I tossed a black jitterbug to the edge and retrived – had a hit – a sm LM of about 10″. As I was bringing in, the jitterbugs auto-release mechanism kicked in, and I didn’t have to touch it.

Just a few casts later, I saw a splash by my lure, and felt weight – brought this in to the net, a nice 16.25″ LM – I thought things were looking up. My partner – Sid – a guy from work, was still fishless. Another few casts, and this time I felt weight – no splash – set the hook – and popped the ‘bug out of the fishes mouth.

Worked around the slop bed – on to the deep water side – no more strikes for me, Sid picked up 2 12″ LM on a Creme pre-rigged worm, in a night crawler color.

We worked some shore line – Sid had a good LM follow his Rap minnow, but no take on it, I had a strike and miss on a spinnerbait. Also had what might have been a couple of hits on a T-rigged green worm w/ a yellow tail. Both were single “bumps” – fish/stump/rock/obstruction?

Motored over to another shoreline where I’d gotten fish in the past – on his first cast, Sid had a hookup on a spinner bait – and had the fish come un-buttoned at the side of the boat. We continued to work the shore line, I got two fish on a firetiger spinnerbait, the 1st a bit over 12″, the second not much bigger than the spinnerbait itself. By this time it was 9.20 and we both had other things to do, so we called it a day.

Thanks for the report UG. Believe it or not I’ve lived in Rochester 6 years and have never fished Willow. Maybe sometime this summer I will make it on out there.
