Here is a trophy Largemouth Bass (which will be mounted) caught in Foster Arends Lake about a week ago. It weighed 7+ lbs.

WOW, is that ever a fatty. Bet that was an ultimate surprise on that catch, especially coming out of Foster.

sad this fish was kept. I don’t know why anyone would keep and mount a fish these days when you could have it mounted. should throw these back to keep the gene pool going. a fish like this is a major predator in a pond like that and keeps the bluegill population (and probably even small trout) in check. Nice fish though.

There are very few of the really large bass from Fosters that are ever caught, let alone kept. I understand the concern about removing a large fish, but I also believe everyone should be free to keep what they consider to be a trophy. I agree that the reproductions being made these days are very good, and a valid option.

I agree. It is too bad it was pulled out. The problem is the same guy would have probably kept a 3lber. to mount or eat. Point is, some go to catch and release and some go to catch and eat or mount. I would never ever mount a beauty like that. I would have a replica made. Guys, put a seamstress tape, camera, and a weigh scale in your boat or tackle box. When you catch that lunker, get a length, a girth measurement, and a close up picture and release the fish. Your mount will be just the same and you will know what a good deed you did that fish.

I weighed it and it was just over 7 lbs. It was 23 inches long with a 17 inch girth. Let’s not let this get into a discussion of keeping fish versus releasing all fish. There is nothing illegal about keeping that fish and it was a true trophy. Enough said.

Its neat to know there is big bass in my back yard. Almost. I only use Foster’s to take the dog swimming.
I never said it was illegal. You know where I stand. Nice fish for that guy.
