Be careful at Silver Creek Resevoir

A DNR Conservation Officer just called me to ask that I post this. Someone dumped and scattered a bunch of nails at Silver Creek Resevoir near the creek where people are legally putting in their boats or canoes. It is very possible that going there will cause you to pick up a nail in a tire. There is a person that is going to bring out a magnet to try to get as many as possible picked up, but you may want to avoid this completely for a couple days.

Just the latest in the drama out there………

I’m not sure of the story, but I can probably guess why. Silver Creek Res. is a pretty controversial body of water in regards to the legal accessibility of it. There are a good number of people who do not want people out there and it seems now will go to great lengths to try and keep it that way.

You get on it legally by using the creek that intersects the roadway. Same as for ice-fishing.

Thanks for the update mike, that could seriously hurt someone not to mention tires. And the battle goes on. Just a guess on my part but its probly from a local land owner that dosn’t like other people fishing their fishing hole!! Just my opinion Troy Pike

You know what? I have fished the resevoir legally two years ago. It was fun! However, what I think is really behind the objections of the local land owners is legitimate! Unfortunately too many fisherman are slobs! They litter a lot! Go to any lake in the area and look at the litter left behind! It just is very bad. I take a garbage sack with me and pick up everytime whereever I go. If we all did that it would make a big difference. However! Jerks who litter just screw it up for all of us! Back in ’99 I fished Foster Arends a lot and took a garbage sack with me every time I fished. I quit it because two days after I picked up you would not know that anyone had picked up! That is the truth! I wished it was open but I can understand why it is not liked by the locals. However, spreading nails etc. is not the answer and only makes things worse!
