Dad and I were out Friday and Saturday chasing some smallies. Water was a bit high and dirty both times, but we still ended up catching a few fish both days.

Friday was the better fishing day of the two in terms of both numbers and size. We were a little skeptic at first on how the fishing would be with the water being dirty. I caught a 14″ in the first spot so we gave it a go. Ended up with probably 30 fish including 13, 14, 15, and 16 inchers.

Saturday the water was a little dirtier than the day before, but we figured we’d have decent luck based on how we did the day before. Only one hit the 12″ mark, otherwise everything was smaller than that.

90% of our fish caught these two days were in areas with very little or no current. The fish still don’t seem to be as active as they should by this time of year. I’ve tried slowing things down and using a jig, but I’ve only had two bites all year. Anybody else seeing the same thing or is it just me?

    Good fishing,
    F.S.

The river I fish the bass are in the current big time and are crushing moving baits in some areas and slow baits in other areas.

Hey F.S. were you on the Root or the zum. The zum usually takes several days to get darker from the rain. nOne the less we have done well with plastic worms and just rolling them down the current. Some days it is idiot proof and others you have to work for them. Good luck. ike
