Zumbro Bass-O-Rama

Got baby sitting arrangements for the night, so got a chance to take my wife out on Zumbro tonight. Had thoughts of getting in on the great crappie bite that has been going on. Unfortunately the crappies were pretty much non existent for us. Missy stayed fishing a paddle tail, but after a bit I switched over to twitching a chart/silver floating rapala and “WOW”!. I have never caught so many bass on a Zumbro outing before. Course I never targeted them like I did tonight. The plastics produced crappies, bluegills, smallies and largemouths for Missy. It was a great night to be out on the water even though the waves were a bit hectic at times. Granted the smallies aren’t nothing to brag about size wise, but it was sure a fun time watching pop at that rapala. Here are just a few shots:

Nice fish Andy. Thanks for the report and pics. How deep where the bass? Shallow? This weather has been great. Lets hope it stays nice which will mean lots of fishin.
    Thanks, Bill

All the bass came from shallow 1-2′ of water. Pretty much just went down the shoreline, threw the rapala close to the bank and gave a few twitches. Areas that had some wood coverage seemed to produce the better fish, but they found up and down the shoreline.

I love surface fishing for bass. Even if you don’t get a hook up everytime, which I certainly don’t, it still provides great excitement.
