Smallmouth Opener

    Did anyone make it out around here for the smallmouth opener this weekend? I have been unable to get out. I will be out this weekend though and I’ll report back on how I do.

    caught smallies sunday and monday.3lbs being about the biggest.caught about 20 each day.topwater ,tubes ,trick worms. they were hitting everything. st .croix river ,prescott to hudson. hard not to catch

    I fished the upper St. Croix Sat and Sun and i just killed’em. It was non stop all morning. Tubes, crankbaits, dingers, any thing that I threw worked. I spent to day nursing my torn up thumbs.

    Thanks for the replies guys. Looks like I should be able to catch a few this next weekend. Were there any signs of beds or do you think that they are done spawning?

    We fished Sat. AM and found some on beds still, Shouldnt be there for too much longer. We caught most of our fish on 4 inch french fry type plastics, pumpkin in color.
