Mike [HOF] measuring fish. You are allowed to bring in one fish of each spieces selected for that nights event to be measured. Winner has bragging rights for the two week period til the next event. Points are then kept and at the end of all the events the person with the most points is champion for the year. Its a fun, no entry fee [FREE] fishing get together of fisherpersons to catch fish and meet other people who fish. This evenings event was held at Lake Zumbro 5-25-06 from 5:00-8:30 PM.

HOF measuring some nice fish. These crappies and bullgills that came in to be measured sure were thick fat fish. If I got some names wrong please forgive me and please correct me. I didn’t get there til they were measuring fish so I didn’t get very many peoples names. I did get to meet some new friends. Next time please come up and introduce yourself to me. These events are open to everyone and each person in the boat gets to bring their biggest fish of each spieces up to be measured. Its a great way to have fun and make some new friends.

HOF has the sheet of paper with the names of the winners tonight so he will have to post the 3 winners [one winner for each fish spieces]. I believe points are awarded for the top three places in each spieces fished for.

    Thanks, Bill

The next event is June 8th at Chesterwoods. The fish spieces fished for are crappies, bluegills, catfish and bass I believe. This should be a fun event with 4 spieces to bring in for measuring. Chesterwoods is a trolling motor only lake [can’t use the outboard motor, electric only] and there are alot of good fishing spots close to the boat ramp. It has a nice ramp and a nice parking lot. There is a 5.00 per day fee to enter the park where the lake is or you can buy a one year park permit for 25.00 per year. I bought one as this is a really nice place to fish, has a nice swimming beach and lots of camping sites also with a small camp site fee. Also has a building at the swimming beach for restrooms and changing clothes. Great place for some peace and quite time with the family and/or friends.
    Thanks, Bill

Nothing like leading the rear of the pack! It was a fun event for me and I’m glad I participated.

Dave, the guy that fished with me, is a good buddy of mine. We’re going to try to hit a the next tourney at Chester.

PS. It sure is nice to see Alex is ahead of Dan. I’m glad Al is not in on the side bets….

Flu flu jigs will work well. We have been having great results using mini-mite jigs. You can tip them with wax worms or fish them without anything.

    Good Fishing,
    Mike

Tell ya the truth….we never went in Ryan’s Bay. Just look for shorelines with fallen trees that hang down into the water. That and try under and around docks.

The panfish have been hitting plastics. Flu-flus are fine and they have their place but soft plastics were really working good. Like Mike said Mini-Mites work! But last night I found that the crappies seemed to prefer the white Berkley Gulp. Little 2″ white plastic minnow shaped bodies. Put them on a 1/32″ oz. jig under a bobber set at about 2 foot. If ya don’t find them at one spot move on. There is so much structure along the shorelines on Lake Zumbro.

    Good luck!

Where do you put in at Erick? Let me know and I’ll give you directions from the ramp. I’ve had my three grandaughters for the weekend. Sunday we went out to Chesterwoods for some fishin and alot of swimming. Today we are headed to Northfield for a barbecue. My daughter and hubby bought one of those big trampolines for the kids so when we get there this early afternoon they will be surprised.
    Thanks, Bill
