Well, you guys are off the hook for tonight as I’m gonna have to be a no show.

On top of double duty parenting duties, I’m heading out of town tomorrow for a race and I need to get things packed up for that.

Oh, well I’m sure I’ll be able to catch up with the 20 points I plan to get in the last event.

Heres Ron [RHW] with a nice bullgill. Rons a bullgill geru in my mind. Between Ron and Mike you have many many years of experience fishing for panfish. Both really know their stuff.

The next RAF Get Together will be two weeks from tonight. It will be at Lake Zumbro again and everyone is welcome. You can have as many people in the boat as you want so bring the wife and kids and have some fun. Its a fun fishing get together with NO entry fee. Its from 5:00-8:30 and if you can’t make it at 5:00 just come late. And its FREE.

I was able to get on the water at 7:00 tonight and caught a few small bass. Weather was fantastic and felt great being on the water having fun. These get togethers are very low key so come out and have some fun. We all hear about the one that got away ….well heres a pic of the one that got away. I caught this northern right before time to head back to the landing and since northerns aren’t one of the fish allowed tonight I just lifted him up some to try get a quick pic and afterwards he broke the line.

Mike will be posting the top three places so far later as we keep score [points] from each get together.
    Thanks, Bill

It sure does Bud. Thats whats so great about fishing. You don’t need a 10 lb walleye or a 20 lb northern or a 6 lb bass. All you need is to spend alittle time on the water with your kids or a neighbor kid and just catch a few fish and they get very excited and are full of smiles. Yes gas prices are high BUT there are ALOT of bodies of water in the Rochester area that you can fish from a boat or from shore and catch a bunch of fish. This year I’m hoping we ALL can share our fishing experiences from this area with each other and make us all more aware of all the fishing opportunities we have right here at our finger tips so to speak. Even us bigger kids get excited when we get to go fishing.

Well here’s my report from last night.

Alex and I were having some serious troubles. Every thing went wrong. I know, I know excuses are like, well nevermind that one. But throughout our mishaps Alex did seem to get some points last night. Myself, I got zero points. Oh well, it was still a fun night to be out and see all of you guys!

    p.s. Bill got wet AGAIN

Sorry we didn’t make it back to the weigh-ins. It was a tough evening for us. At 8:00 I boated a 11.25″ crappie, but we let it go and decided we’d go on fishing for fun. It payed off as around 9:00 I put a 3# channel cat in the boat and Dave managed a few nice smallies.

Nope, no size restrictions. I noticed that you bass guys do have a 12 inch minimum, but there is no regulations stating any size restrictions.

Hope you make it out for the final event!

Well, we got done tonight. We had a great time. Ended up using the Mighty Northwood after all. But we just could not find them channel cats. We made it all the way up to Cedar Beach and gave it a shot. Nothing!

Then we came back down to the lower part of the lake and fished. The water was much cleaner but way rougher.

We fished along the high-banks for the rest of the night. We caught plenty of gills on a crawler. Caught them in about every depth from 2 feet to 20 feet. But the deeper ones were suspended only around 3-4 feet below the surface.

I think we ended up finishing the R.A.F. with a good time. Thanks to all who came even if it was only for one time. It was nice to meet new people and we sure had fun.

See you all for the Ice Series!
