Here is a response I got from RPU about when the Lake Zumbro water level will be raised:

We plan to commence on April 7, 2006. The lake should be at normal summer pool within one to two weeks. If we receive significant precipitation between now and the 7th of April the lake may refill almost immediately. From that point on we will maintain the lake at summer pool.

    Good Fishing,
    Mike

As you are standing on the ramp at the Ponderosa Campground facing the dam on your left the dock is a few inches under water as of Thursday night. The dock on the right side looked good like you would want it. The ice had melted roughly 30 feet away fron the ramp but there was plenty of ice yet in this part of the lake. But the ice looked very UNSAFE and will go quickly with this rain I would think. The lake area up around Fishermans Inn is all wide open water with the ramp area open too.
    Thanks, Bill

Just found out that the lake appears to have filled from the recent rain and runoff. Here is the lastest report:
The Lake Zumbro Water Level was 921.65 ft., or approximately 1.7 ft. above the crest on 03/31/06 at 6:48:35 PM .

    Good Fishing,

Found this on the RPU Lake Zumbro website:

Lake Zumbro Hydroelectric Dam Spring Operation

Rochester, MN— Due to unusually high lake levels, the Lake Zumbro level is above the normal summer pool level. Once the level drops to the normal pool level it will be maintained for the remainder of the season.

Lake Zumbro will operate at the normal summer pool level throughout the spring and summer season, to the extent possible. This level will accommodate the Zumbro Hydroelectric Plant operation.

Real-time lake level information is available on the RPU web site (www.rpu.org) For additional information regarding the Zumbro Dam and Hydroelectric Facility please contact Tony Benson 280-1534 or Joe Hensel, 280-1556.

Looks like the river levels going through town have dropped already. If we don’t get any more heavy rains the lake could be ready to explore very soon.

    Good Fishing,
    Mike
