On Sat. 3-25-06 the water was open on Lake Zumbro down past Fishermans Inn some but there was still ice in the bay area in fromt of Fishermans Inn. With these warmer temps and alot of possible rain this week it should help to speed up the ice melting on all bodies of water in the area.
    Thanks, Bill

Was at the reservoir on the west side of rochester on sunday, about 10″ with 2″ of slush on top. Ice all the way to shore, fishing was slow, 1 crappie…

don’t forget goose poop lake is open year round and i heard from some fellas recently that the crappies are really turned on right now in there. I don’t think i would reccomend eating them but the 7-9 inchers are fun to catch witha long rond any way. i may be trying it here in the next couple of days. that is all i know. ike

Good old Silver Lake aka goose poop lake, truly full of fish and doesn’t get much pressure. I have very fond memories of that lake as a kid. Used to fish there just about every day during the summer. Never did eat anything out of there though.

Foster Arend’s ice looks dark and the lake is open in the NW corner. There was 1 person on the ice on the South side.

    Good Fishing,
    Mike

Talked to person that lives on Lake Zumbro in the Ryan’s Bay area. He said that the shoreline had melted about 20 ft. out. He was going to try fishing the edge of the open water for some crappies. Shouldn’t be much longer!

    Good Fishing,
    Mike

Foster Arends is totally open on the North and East shorelines from 25 ft. to 50+ ft away from shore. Need an open water fix? Looks like the remaining ice will be gone very soon!

    Good Fishing,
    Mike

Got excited from reading HOFs post on Fosters opening up I jumped in my car and drove out to Fishermans Inn and the water is wide open for as far down as I could see. These pics I’m going to post aren’t very clear as it was getting dark but the water is open in them. This first pic shows the water ski dock next to the ramp in the water and all water area is OPEN. What you see in the front lower part of the pic is the pavement ”not” ice.

    Thanks, Bill

    SPRING HAS SPRUNG!

The green in the lower left corner is the part of the dock that goes out to the dock platform. Notice farther down the shoreline you will see another dock in the water.

This last pic was taken at the ramp and for as far as I could see down the lake in the direction of the dam was all OPEN WATER. As you get further down you will find ice [unsafe ice] as there was still ice down by Grampa Eds and the Ponderosa. This rain will continue to help melt the remaining ice.

    Thanks, Bill

Hey Briank, you know that area you like to fish…well… last weekend there was two guys fishing there sitting in lawn chairs and claiming even though they were only 10 ft away from open water said they had 10 inches of ice…well they won’t be sitting on ”your” spot this weekend cause there isn’t any ice. That spots all yours Bud now. I think they may have saved you a few fish to catch. You can leave the ice house and 4 wheeler at home though. NO ICE there.
    Thanks, Bill

Drove by Fosters last night [Friday] around 6:30 and 3/4 of the lake was open water. Won’t be long and it will be all open water.
    Thanks, Bill

Was out at foster Arends tonight. It was all open water. Lost 2 trout getting them to shore. Saw one guy catch a nice 18″ rainbow. I think he was using a spinner, I was using a waxie on a little glo jig.
    Good Luck

Was out on the Zumbro Sat. afternoon.
Mostly open water, except for Rochan and Ryans bay.
Awfully dirty and quite high water.
