Not a lot of folks going fishing with the weather we’ve had recently. In general, the area lakes still have some ice but some of the lakes have thin ice around the shorelines.

Foster Arends Lake is still producing some nice trout. I believe it was stocked several days ago. Minnows, power bait, waxies, or small spoon type lures are producing fish.

Lake Zumbro shoreline ice is iffy. Some people have been trying the area close to Fisherman’s Inn, but most days are slow.

Willow Creek was still being accessed by walking out on the dock and then getting on the ice. Some bluegills are being caught.

A few areas of the Mississippi River backwaters are still putting out some fish. Wilcox, West Newton, the Dike Road, the Wabasha boat harbor are possibilities.

This will be the last report until we get some open water fishing going on – hopefully very soon. Use caution if going out on the ice!

Remember to stop by Hooked On Fishing for all your bait and tackle needs! We appreciate your business!

    Good Fishing,
    Mike

Thanks Mike. Guys, Mike does a excellent job giving us fishing reports and you can tell by this one just how honest Mike is. Instead of posting and saying all is well with the bite and ice he gives us an ”honest” report which isn’t the best for business. Heres a man who puts your safety and the enjoyment you get from fishing first. Please be sure and show your appreciation for what he does for you by stopping in to his store to stock up for the open water fishing that will be here very soon. Yes, very soon, as all this snow will push the weaker ice down so it floating under alittle like an ice cube and melt. I know we are ALL, ok almost all , are excited for open water fishing. I know I plan to get out earlier in the Rochester area just to plain be out on open water. If I catch fish its a bonus as I just want to be out on the water. I know this year I am going multispieces. When Nate was little we fished for different spieces and then when he was 8 years old we did our first walleye tournament. Fished most of the day in the rain without rain gear as someone, can’t imagine who, , didn’t check the forecast. Nate swore he would never fish another one. Well…he lied… …as he never stopped fishing tournaments. We both chased walleyes for years. But last year I did both eyes and multispieces and had a blast. Guys, mix it up some and have a blast too. Got kids…well take them out for whatever is biting. They AND you will love it. Got friends, neighbor kids, wife, girlfriend, or just fishing by yourself one day then mix it up. You will be glad you did. And Mike at HOF and IDA will help you with reports, tips, and techniques. Nobody knows it all so thats why its so important for everyone to share information on here. We ALL learn from each other. You aren’t being asked to share your hotspots, just the general structure [flat, channel edge, downed trees, weeds, weedlines, humps, holes], you get the picture. Everyone is important here, everything you share helps another person. Even if you are new to fishing you still have important info to share about how you did or didn’t do. Thats right, even if such and such didn’t catch fish it helps the elimination of water process for the next guy. I look forward to a very good year of fishing, trying new things, new bodies of water, and learning alot from trial and error. So please feel free to share and post ALL you want and we will ALL help each other enjoy our time on the water more.
    Thanks, Bill
