It’s hard to say goodbye

My family room is a little crowded right now. I have all my ice fishing gear laid out and just finished hauling out my open water equipment. You know, dusting and wiping it off so it’s ready to go. What little ice fishing I got to do this year, going through a couple new Marcums and meeting Brian, spend time with Mike, exchanging posts, I consider it a success. However, time now to concentrate on soft water and say goodbye to ice fishing for this season. But then again, will have to say goodbye to open water fishing come end of November.

    RHW…catching is so over rated!

Besides, if I recall correctly, you out fished Big Mike in quanity and quality anyway…well, that’s what you told me!

I need to take some gills to a friend that doesn’t get them too often in May…so…let me know when they’re biting…

and save a couple of those secret purple baits for me. Man are they hard to get!

Good bye cold hard ice…HELLOOO SUNSHINE!

Brian, I got you covered on the purple secret. You need a few, you just let me know. Mike won’t tell you this, but we use them in open water. He is kind of protective on them.
I do not want to forget another great memory this season. Thank you Mike, Bill, Jim, Doug and his future son in law for helping out with the Boy Scouts at Willow. Those kids thought you guys were cool.

The boy scouts were a blast. The looks on there faces are priceless, Will help out on that one any time,
Looking back on my ice season this year, I can tell ya I learned Alot this year.
I too am having a hard time saying good bye to the ice season. But after having done the river thing it makes it a bit easier to let go of hard water thoughts. Come on warmer temps, I’m ready for spring. Good Fishin Doug.

So this means its your fault that we have snow coming tonight and tomorrow morning just in time for me to drive in it tomorrow to pick up my 3 oldest grandaughters for the weekend. Nate’s tranny on his Blazer went out so hes working extra jobs to get the cash to fix it so we won’t be fishing this weekend so I’m taking my three oldest grandaughters for a long weekend plus my youngest grandson on Sat and early Sunday. Then off to the Twin Cities with them to do some stuff. But if you get depressed Ron from thinking about all that ice fishing stuff you are putting away and now winters returned you can always come over and join in on all the Scobby Doo movies we will be watching [scobby doo party all weekend]. Cheer up Bud, open water fishing on Zumbro will be here soon. At least thats what I keep telling myself anyway. After having a 50 degree day and then getting winter back winter stinks. Pretty much got my ice fishing stuff put away too. And like you, time to get the Lake Zumbro stuff out.
    Thanks, Bill

Dave, I have to give this snow fall [winters back] to Ron [RHW] as he put his ice stuff away. I got to share in the last one as I don’t think Rootski is claiming all the blame. But just for the record: I am innocent of ALL bad doings and guilty as hec of ALL good doings.
    Thanks, Bill

Hee Hee…naw, meant today….tomorrow….nothing better than a snow day to recharge your batteries as a teacher….even if you go in to school to get work done, it recharges your batteries….to play another day.

On another note, I am a big believer in the water tables….less precip the past 20 years has lowered lakes, rivers, and the water table in general (if you don’t believe me, look at rocky shorelines, specially up north for stains where the water lines USED to be) Some lakes I fished as a kid have water levels 4-6 feet lower a couple years ago when I went back up there….can’t be good for the whole outlook of fishing
