These pics were all taken fron the fishing pier area at Fishermens Inn on Lake Zumbro. There is a nice wide open water path from above Sandy Point area down to around a block distance pass Fishermens Inn. So the thaw has started in the current area of the river/lake but still has a long ways to go yet. But its a gleam of hope for us cabin fever/fishing pox open water anglers in southeast Mn.

And for you guys and gals that want to get some more ice fishing in the bay right in front of Fishermans Inn is still froze up. Please stay away from the edges anywhere close to the open water as its NOT safe. The ramp area didn’t look very safe so I would advice NO driving on the lake for safety sake.

    Thanks, Bill

I would guess in two weeks that the ramp will be open at fishermans Inn for fishing the first half of the lake if our temps stay nice. Come on spring.
    Thanks, Bill

Almost ALL [ ] of us [still a few ice fanatics around I’m sure] are very anxious for open water in the area we live. Everyone please feel free to share information about open water wherever you find it to keep us all updated as to the open water progress happenings. And please don’t forget to post about those open water fishing bites you come across too.
    Thanks, Bill

Bill, once you get past 50 there is no such thing as a slow summer. Seems to me they get shorter every year.

OK Bill, this return to winter has to be your fault. Just a little too much talk about spring and warm temps I suspect….
12 degrees this morning with frozen lumpy snow! Yep, Bill’s fault!

Next year, please wait until June to start talking about spring!

    Good Fishing,
    Mike

Was a balmy 9F on the SW side of town this morning. Making ice again. At least we can blame Bill and move on. Asigning the blame is the most important part. How about the strong wind? Is that his fault too.

I dislike this time of the year the most. Not enough safe ice but too much to interfer with open water fishing. Yesterdays snow and the predicted forecast for the rest of week only took us back two giant steps. What, did another ground hog crawl out of it’s hole and see it’s shadow, now another six more weeks of winter.
