Sunday Feb. 19th, noon-4 p.m. will be the Rochester IDA Get-together on Lake Zumbro.

We will meet at the public fishing docks and parking area near Fisherman’s Inn.

    To get there:

From Hwy. 52, turn East onto Cty. Rd. 12, then go to Cty. Rd. 118 (Fisherman’s Drive) and turn North.

From Hwy. 63, turn West onto Cty. Rd. 12, then go to Cty. Rd. 118 (Fisherman’s Drive) and turn North.

Follow Cty. Rd. 118 (Fisherman’s Drive) to the end which is where we will be meeting.

In order to be eligible for prizes, you need to be registered previous to starting fishing. There is no cost to register. Doug (MrMuskie) will be in the parking area and he will get you registered and give you a name tag. If you get there late and want to register, please try to find Doug or see Bill Cadwell or myself. Everyone who registers (including IDA staff) is eligible to win. The fishing area will be restricted to the area of the lake from the public fishing dock down to the ramp of Fisherman’s Inn (this is a large area with plenty of room.)

Prizes include a custom HOF wood handle carbon ice rod, a $25 gift certificate to HOF, a new orange shooting vest, and a very nice hand-crafted paddle with carvings. Prizes will be awarded for the largest crappie, bluegill, catfish, and other fish (which includes anything else.)

I will have a digital scale and will be the official judge to determine winners. Prizes will be awarded in the parking area shortly after 4 p.m.

It sounds like it may be a cold day, so feel free to bring shelters, heaters, and warm clothing. This is intended to be a relaxing fun afternoon on the ice. The ice is in good condition with most areas having at least 12 inches.

Disclaimer: IDA, HOF, other sponsors, staff or participants will not be responsible for any accidents, injuries, loss of equipment, or any other unforseen problems.

Hope to see you all on Sunday!

    Good Fishing,

    Mike

An additional prize has been donated – another $25 HOF gift certificate. This prize will be awarded by a drawing. Each person registered will be assigned a number to be used in the drawing. If fish are not caught for the other prize categories, the prizes will also be awarded by drawing numbers.

    Good Fishing,
    Mike

Yes, the IDA get-together sounds like fun. Great chance for people to put some faces with IDA names. That and maybe catch some fish. Supposed to be a little cool that day but hey bundle up. Very impressive list of prizes Mike. In case people didn’t pick up on it, there is NO ENTRY fee. Won’t cost you a dime to have fun and maybe win a nice prize. Even if you don’t catch a fish, you still have a chance at a prize. Not sure I can fish, but do plan on being there to walk around and say hi for a bit.

A good day at work is still better than a bad day ice fishing [END OF QUOTE]

There the proof guys that Jake has fallen in love. Before he would ALWAYS say the opposite but apparently now he must be working hard to save up for that ring. Poor guy, hes giving up his FIRST love-FISHIN.

With the location being at the fishing piers/Fishermans Inn area we will be fishing pretty close to where our cars will be parked for any warm up breaks anyone wants to take in case it would be cold out. Bringing portable fish houses will also provide shelter and warmth too. Last weekend Mike and I turned our backs to the wind while fishing on our ice buckets and were fairly warm that way as we dressed warm for the time on the ice. Its always best to dress super warm as you can always take extra clothes off and stick them in your car if you are too warm. Look forward to seeing old friends, and meeting people I know only from talking to on the site and meeting new friends. Bring the kids. Make sure you register when you first get there so you can have any fish you catch count in the little FUN contest. If you can’t find Mr. Musky [Doug] or Mike [HOF] Smith to register just look for a blue fish trap as thats my portable. I’m must more interested in seeing you get registered as being there with the group so your fish counts than I am in wetting a line so just hollar for me if needed. See you on the ice Sunday.

    FISH ON!!!

With the freezing temps we are having today [Friday] and Saturday it will make the 21 degrees above for Sunday feel like a big heat wave at the GTG. See you there.
    Thanks, Bill

At least you don’t need to catch anything to win the spining reel – so you do have a chance Brian!
Actually, Brian is a great ice panfish stick, he just doesn’t want the catfish guys to know….

    and
    my secret desires!!!

See ya guys in the morning!

Hey Bill, are we going to have a side wager between the two of us? Biggest, first or most????

Looser has to hand wash the winners car at the Summer GTG at Everet’s????

I’m going to warn you..I’m dialed in to those Zumbro pannies…I’m like ONE with Lake Zumbro!

    Pss…Can I borrow a purple ratso?

Does that ”ONE” mean you can catch only ONE fish per outting? To tell you the truth Bud I’m more interested in the fellowship, ok BSing, than catching fish. You can borrow any of my tackle Bud. Just don’t tell anyone about the color purple. Ok? Besides, my car won’t be at the GTG this summer. Something confusing here though. You say you are ”dialed” in with Zumbro but I don’t remember giving you the phone number to call to invite the fish. Oh well, must be getting older I guess.
    Thanks, Bill

Bill, you forget that I’ve been on the hard water with the “Official Lake Zumbro Guide”….

Speaking of that, I’m wondering if he’ll be down there with his “little Mrs.”? I have some stories to tell her!

Just home from the GTG. WOW, what a great day! The fish could have been a little more cooperative, but I sure enjoyed meeting everyone!

The only species of fish caught was bluegills. Largest bluegill went to Mr. Brian Klawitter – Briank, at 11 oz. – Congrats!

I want to thank everyone who contributed all the help and donations! Thanks to everyone who participated!

    Good Fishing,

    Mike

I’m not sure what you guys are talking about??? Slow fishing? It was only slow when Bill came into my house! I would be working a fish up to bite and….Hi Brian you bass fisherman….. puff, the gill was gone!

Looks like I came home with 8 dandy gills…now if I can just get the favorite wife to clean them….NOT!

Rock, your post will come later….

Yes, it was a great GTG and I am glad I made it out. Fun to see and chat with friends and meet some new ones. Hats off to those who orgainzed this, Mike, Bill and Doug for sure. Sorry if I missed someone. Brian, I just don’t get it, everytime I have ice fished with you, you get the most and the biggest. Then today you relinquish the nice custom made icefishing rod and announced you aren’t that much of an icefisherman? Should have kept the rod and come back for more. OK, so when is the next GTG?
