I took the day off tomorrow, and was hoping to get out…how’s the ice holding out? Willow ok?

Any help on this would be great…would hate to stay home, and play PS2 bass fishing on my big screen, but may have to.

Also, my bro is flying up from georgia next week, hoping to do some hardwater fishing over the weekend, so say a kind word for some cold temps, he’s coming a long way

Willow is in good shape – will be taking a troop of boyscouts out there Sunday afternoon. I’ve been getting lots of calls from folks wondering if there is any ice. There is ice and it is in decent condition almost everywhere, except areas which have current or springs to erode the ice. When the day-time temps get at or above freezing, it doesn’t cause much thinning of the ice because the night-time temps are cold enough to make up for the warmth.
If you hear of someone falling through the ice, there is a very good chance that they were somewhere they should not have been. Use a good heavy ice spud to check the thickness of any questionable ice before you walk on it. Use common sense and caution at all times on the ice – even when it is 2 ft. thick.

    Good Fishing,
    Mike

The bite was good at the Boy Scout [Gamehaven] Lake last weekend for my youngest son Nate and his sweetheart Jessie. Use a ice fishing jig and waxie to catch gils. Crappies were few. He made the mistake of showing her how neat it is to use the vexilar and just raise or lower your jig to where the fish are and he never got the vexilar back from her.

    Thanks, Bill

ps. Look forward to your fishing reports guys.

    Well Guys,

I tried The CC pits, gamehaven and Willow Creek and a private pond friday through sunday. The ice seems to be around 7-10 inches, depending the usual variables the current and yes even snow cover plus sun exposure etc. My take is that the fishing sure has slowed down in the past week or so.But the fish are still there to be had. I had the best luck in about 10- 12 feet of water. A jig laced waxies seemed to be the ticket for me.The fish were hanging just right of the bottom. The CC pits and Gamehaven was the slowest for us. Willow got fish but the pond was where i caught plenty and enuff to have a fish fry. I had the honor of being the first one to drill hole in the pond. In all the weekend of fishing was a very good and fun time, Except that my 2 year old daughter caught the biggest fish of the weekend and broke one of my rods all in five minutes. oh well the good definitely out weighed the bad. I had a great time with the kiddos and being outdoors. Brian K sorry to let you down but I am afraid to tell you that we went cat less. Take it ez everyone and happy fishing
