Well with temps in the upper 40’s and the heavy rain/down pour, got some water in the basement, we took two giant steps backwards and you can say bye bye ice, what little we did have. 
My new MarCum is starting to collect dust. 
Lets see, now where did I put my open water stuff?

Mother Nature is so teasing at times…just a little more ice…and then…no ice…start all over.
<sigh> Lip Ripper is right…it’s coming, but I would like to just get it over with!
We had 6 inches of ice on some lakes in Park Rapids this weekend. There were a few out fishing on the early ice spots. They will be driving ATV’s by the weekend on the ice.
Not to worry Ron, I’ve got a hunch it will come back quickly and we should have walkable ice by the weekend on some of the backwaters. The temp is supposed to drop during the day today and then not be above freezing in the next week.
I just love to walk on water!

With highs in the 20’s and lows in the teens and single digits over the next two weeks it will be making some good solid safe ice.
I think Mike Fischers boss should send him out on a scouting mission fishing different bodys of water so we all know how the new early ice fishing bite is.

Hang in there Ron. That ice skim with snow on top would not of been safe. Now with that unsafe stuff out af the way there will be better solid ice being made with these very low temps they say we will have. Get the dust off and get that battery charged up. My Vexilar has just finished its charge and is ready for action.

The only problem with sending Mr Fischer out scouting is that he immediately heads to Arizona. I keep telling him that you can’t ice fish in the desert, but he just doesn’t listen….

Are you sure you didn’t mean the above? Must of been a typo on your part Bud. I know you use to be an ice fisherman. Have Mike [HOF] take you out ice fishing and put you on fish and you be be back at it for sure.

Can’t imagine when three days ago we had 40-50 degree weather so there isn’t any safe ice anywhere yet. Plus we had snow which helps to keep ice warm. Maybe you are sitting in your favorite chair at home sorting out your ice fishing jigs for when theres ice a person can walk on? By the following weekend Dec 10-11 there might be safe ice in the ”shallow” backwaters. Til then my friend-behave yourself.
