Another great day on Zumbro

Ron and I spent about 5 hours on Zumbro today. The water temp is dropping quickly and it moved the fish to deeper water. We started fishing around 11:00 this morning at the same place in shallow water that produced last time. It was slow there and we decided to try another area with deeper water. That was a good move! The fish were active about 9 ft. down over deeper water. We fished that area for a couple hours before deciding to try the shallow area again, as the temp had warmed up. There were some fish up shallow, but we found more fish active in the deeper water in that same area. We got some real nice crappies out of the deeper water, largest being about 12 inches. Nice bluegills were being fairly cooperative, with Ron nailing a very nice 9 1/2 incher as the largest gill. Mini-mites tipped with a waxie were once again the fish producers.
It was another great day to be on the water!

    Good Fishing,
    Mike

Thanks for the report Bud. Its ALWAYS great to be on the water. Even when the bite on pool 4 is slow. But it will be very nice to get back on Lake Zumbro again where the bite is hot.
    Thanks, Bill

Well on Tue 10/11 I also had a great day on Lake Zumbro – the temps were warm, the wind was just a light breeze and the trees are turning. It was a great and beautiful day to be out there.

But the fish were not very cooperative for me – I did get a very nice crappie and a few decent sunfish, plus about 50 3” inch white bass. I tried several honey holes both deep and shallow, and then went exploring the lake with a very slow troll that had little success.

There were about a half dozen boats out today and none of them said they were having much luck. This has happened to me before at the Zumbro and hopefully it is just a temporary transition time for the lake.

I guess I will have to get some expert advice from Mike & Ron as things are changing out there.

PS: The fishing still was a lot better than pool 4 last Sat when my boat got zero walleyes.

Another great day today! Beautiful weather and great fishing – and we almost had the whole lake to ourselves.

The fish were between 3-10 ft. deep today. We got several really nice crappies today, more than the past few trips. The big gills are also still biting well. Baits were mini-mites, flicktails, and hair jigs tipped with a waxie most of the time, although a few fish were taken without a waxie.

Looks like the weather is going to be stable and so the next few days should produce some good fishing.

    Good Fishing,

    Mike

Was planning on going in the morning, but Bill has to wait until afternoon – he has a brand new granddaughter. We should be out there early afternoon.

    Good Fishing,
    Mike

Congrats Bill. HOF, give Troy a jingle later on. I may try and go but I have a ton of homework to do and I also have to stop at your store and pick-up one of your AWESOME custom made ice fishing rods.

Thanks. Please don’t get Mike on the ice fishing bug this early or come ice time we will never see him at the store as he sneaks away even more during ice fishing season. Some kids never outgrow playing hooky ya know. Hope to see you guys out there.
    Thanks, Bill
