Just wanted to let everyone know that we spent our weekend at Everts, and once we got thru the 30% chance of rain Saturday night, we had a great weekend. Thanks so much to Dean for the excellent customer service and hospitality. We will definitely be going back there next summer, couldn’t ask for a better host. Fished mostly for the dock and shore, and had good luck, walleyes, sunfish, catfish, sheephead and the fish of the weekend, my daughters’ first carp and biggest fish of her young life. Told Dean I would post a picture but it seems to be too big to post. If there is a way I can post a bigger pic someone let me know, otherwise Dean if you let me know you email address I will send it to you. Thanks again for the hospitality it was a wonderful way to end the summer.

Great to hear you all had a great fun time. Dean is a very nice person and a fisherman himself which makes a very good combination for a place to stay. And the river holds many kinds of fish so you never know what could be on the end of your line. Now you know why so many of us fish pool 4 of the river so much.
Thanks, Billps. I see you made your post on the Rochester Area Lakes Forum which tells me you probably live in this area. If you go out to Hooked On Fishing Bait and Tackle on HWY #63 North and tell Mike Smith, the owner, that I told you to ask him to share some of his hot fishing spots with you and your family so you can have lots of fun between vacations/Holidays catching fish in the Rochester area too. Mike has been shore fishing this SE Mn. area for about 45 years so he knows where and what to catch them on. Mike will see this post before you get out there so he will be expecting you. Probably best to call the Bait Store before going as he might be on the road all day Tuesday as he also owns the bait selling/delivering business in SE Mn too. Hes a great Christian man who lives to fish so you will feel right at home asking him questions and seeing where to go [take pen and paper] to catch fish.

Dean is a swell guy! (I don’t use “swell” too often! I’m heading down to see him in a few minutes.

Thanks for the info Bill, little do you know but, the “other” Mike is my uncle..I talk to them some… we Do have a boat but, because of that little thing we call LIFE, for the last couple years I haven’t seen much of it. We have done quite a bit on the Zumbro the last few weeks. My honey will start fishing Winona Dam shortly for the fall bite.
Thanks again for pointing us in the direction of Everts…September 6, 2005 at 12:44 pm #382291Wish I would have seen this picture before I went out last night…I know that exact spot!!
Your daughter looks comfortable holding that fish…

I’ve been friends with Mike for many years. Great to hear you are related. Now Mike Smith will really have to spill the beans on where the best fishing is.
Thanks, Billps. Nice carp. Bet she had fun bringing that fish in.
