Right in the middle of the dog days of summer, yes, Willow Creek is still kicking out Bluegills and some of them are pretty nice. Couple times in the last week or so, had a few hours to kill so ran out there. Fish are very active, however, the majority are small, but if one is patient, you can get into the nicer ones. Each of those days I went, in the early morning I spent about 4 hours each time. At the end of the day, I had 10 that went over 7 3/4 and a couple that went an honet 9, I measured them. Mini Mites tipped with a waxworm. They had to have meat or no bites, period.
Fished the pier and up and down the shore line. Casted out 20 to 25 yards and fished about 4 1/2 feet below the float.
Shore fishing out there reminds me of trout fishing. Work and area for 15 minutes, then move on down the line. Several others fishing out there as well. Little kids where nailing them left and right off the pier using a chunk of crawler on a plain hook. Water is up however, surprizingly clear. Weeds are starting to die off and recede. After 10:30 she starts to get just a little too warm for me and I run for air-conditioning.
