i have been fishing Chester woods more than anything else this summer and i cannot seem to even catch a fish that is 2lbs. I was just wondering if anyone else fishes there often and if they know how to catch even a two pounder. It would be interesting to have a tourney there or something and to see if anyone would pull out something of some size. Let me know if ya all are having any luck or if i should find somewhere else to catch fish. The lm that are in there some are 10 years old and there are no northerns so they are the top of the food chain. There just has to be some hogs in there!!!! ike

I occasionally hear a report of someone getting a good one there. 4,5+ lb. I have fished out there a few times a came up with almost the same results as you, but also had a couple decent ones too. The last time I was there I caught about 40 bass all 12″ or less. I think there is to many and not enough food so they’re all stunted.
If I was to go looking for a good one I would go deep on timber.

I was out there once this year and had similar results. Lots of little fish (under 13″) and one that went about 16″.

The only times I’ve seen big bass out there is in low light hours, either early or late. They have also been very shallow like 2-3 ft. Caught one (17″) when I saw it by casting out a minnow on a plain hook.
