Mike Fischer of HOF Triple Bypass Surgery

I started a similar thread yesterday in the General Discussion Forum but I want to add it here in the Rochester Area Lakes Forum today also

. The person I need prayers for is Mike Fischer at Hooked On Fishing in Rochester. Please don’t confuse him with Mike Smith who owns Hooked On Fishing. Mike Fischer is the person who makes the custom St. Croix rods at HOF. Mike had a heat attack. This is the second one as he had one a few years back. Mike will be under going a triple bypass surgery tomorrow [Wed] and he still needs your prayers to pull through this all.

I want to Thank all of you for your prayers. I am a big believer in prayer. My God answers prayer, maybe not always the way I want it to be but then again I don’t know the whole plan of things either. Mike shared with me last winter that he is ready to meet the Lord anytime HE wants to take him home. I’m being selfish here maybe but I don’t want that time to be now. Mike has friends and family who still need him so please pray for him to pull through this ok. Thanks. Prayers do work, they have helped, hes still alive today.

I fished my 3rd Walleye Searchers Tournament with Mike back in 1990. Mike is a guy who goes the extra mile for a person. Many years ago he was driving a big truck and was coming down a hill in the Twin Cities and the brakes failed. He had a choice to either go straight at the end of the hill and smash into alot of cars sitting at a red traffic light or turn the truck trying to make a turn which he knew would probably roll the truck but only he would be hurt bad. He chose to risk his own life instead of hurting others. He and his wife lost their home and everything back then due to his permanent injuries and unable to work. Thats the kind of person I am asking for your prayers for. I want to see my friend and yours live life longer here on earth.

    Thanks, Bill

    Bill,
As you and many know, I personally know the power of prayer, particularly in the heart surgery area. Ours will continue. It sounds like Mike is one person I should have the pleasure of knowing. All along I knew his rods were special, I am beginning to understand much more as to why.

Just got word that Mike came through the surgery well. Everything went OK and he is still sedated at this time. He did have a triple bypass and is in St. Mary’s hospital. Keep him in your prayers that the recovery goes well.

    Thanks,

    Mike

    Hi Bill,

Is Mike Fischer the older gentleman that also repairs the rod tips etc? I was just wondering because I stopped in the other day to have my rod repaired. Glad to hear he is doing better after the surgery.

Yes Sean, Mike Fischer is the older guy who makes and repairs the rods there. He just looks older because everyone else there is sooooo much younger. [couldn’t resist Mike]

    Thanks, Bill

Stopped up and saw Mike this afternoon for just a few minutes. St. Mary’s, Mary Brigh, 5C, room 690.
He looked pretty darn good for someone who has been through what he has. No pain, however, a little tired. Thinks he will be dismissed the first of next week. I think this is the first time I have ever seen Mike without a hat. For a guy his age, he has a good head of hair. He is HUNGRY!! Hospital food is not to his liking and right now he has a real craving for a Chicken sandwich and French Fries from where else, McDonalds. I am sure his doctors will appreciate hearing that.
Mike wishing you a speedy recovery. Now, get back to work.

    Mike,
Glad to hear you are home and on your road to recovery. I know you doing OK if you are already beginning to show an appetite. This surgery can put a quash on food for sometime. Keep up your good work.
